Spreadex Strengths and Weaknesses
As you can probably tell even this early in my Spreadex review, this is a betting site which I’m a fan of. But it’s not perfect, as all betting sites have their drawbacks.
Here are the key pros and cons of using Spreadex:
✔️ Spreadex Strengths
- Spread betting: This is a rare site which allows fixed odds betting and spread betting from a single account. In fact, they claim to be the only site to do so.
- Better odds: You can frankly get better odds at a spread betting account than you can at standard online betting sites.
- Unique markets: The markets here are really niche. For example, you can bet on the combined total of the goal scorers’ shirts in a football match. So, if numbers 7, 11 and 32 scored, the market would pay out on 50.
❌ Spreadex Weaknesses
- Confusing: If you’re new to concepts like spread betting, or buying and selling on particular markets, it can be pretty confusing and maybe enough to put you off. This isn’t really a fault of Spreadex, but more of the barrier to spread betting itself.
Conclusion
If you can take the time to understand how spread betting works, of if you’re already familiar with it, you should love Spreadex. Review the offers, markets and odds and you’ll instantly see why this site holds so much appeal.
Score
Bonuses & Offers ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I saw tonnes of promotions at the time of my Spreadex review, covering all sorts of sports and markets, with clear copy and unique imagery.
Betting Variety ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is one of the highlights of my Spreadex review, as this is a site that offers you betting options you won’t find at most online bookies.
Banking Options ⭐⭐
As discussed elsewhere in this Spreadex review, the banking options are severely limited for UK players, with no e-wallets.
Mobile experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spreadex betting is fairly complicated compared to standard betting apps, but the team has done a great job of porting it to mobile and keeping the experience streamlined and accessible.
Payout Speed ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Despite the payment methods being minimal, those that they do offer are decent; Spreadex withdrawal times are fairly speedy.
Security ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The UK Gambling Commission doesn’t hand out licenses easily. Spreadex sports and casino games are 100% fair and trustworthy.
Software & Games ⭐⭐⭐⭐
There’s a terrific selection of options for you to bet on including spread betting, fixed-odds sports bets, casino games, and trading.
Betting Experience ⭐⭐⭐
Overall, the betting experience at Spreadex is great, but I marked it down a little because the very nature of spread betting will be prohibitive to some players, and any misunderstandings can be costly.
Customer Support ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Live support isn’t available 24 hours a day but, when the team are online, they prove themselves to be highly skilled – and there’s phone support too, which is great.
Spreadex Promotions & Bonuses
Spreadex Full Review
I was thoroughly impressed by the end of my Spreadex review, as this is a site which packs in tonnes of cool features and market-beating odds.
The welcome bonus is straightforward and rewards you with one of the most desirable types of promotion: free bets. And you can use them across all types of sports on some truly unique markets, which aren’t available at the majority of online betting sites.
As I mentioned earlier in my Spreadex sports review, this betting site is packed with original markets that allow you to bet on the smallest details of a contest. And the spread betting side of things also gives you the potential to see your winnings grow exponentially. Just make sure you understand how it works, as you can also lose more than your standard stake.
📢 "Loaded with original markets you cannot find elsewhere, Spreadex one of the most innovative sports betting sites on the internet."
Banking is limited, and this is certainly an area I noted could be improved while conducting a Spreadex review. At the same time, they offer you the chance to open a credit line up to the value of £2,000. I’ll leave you to decide whether that’s a pro or a con – but just make sure you only ever bet money you can afford to lose.
Customer support is top notch, with live chat being the most convenient option. As part a thorough Spreadex review, I asked the team a series of intentionally complicated questions to test them. They passed with flying colours, demonstrating sound knowledge and a friendly approach.
The Spreadex betting app is an accomplished piece of software, which allows you to mirror a lot of what you can do on the main desktop site. If you decide that you like spread betting, this is an app I’d recommend using, as it’s perfect for betting on the move.
Is Spreadex legal in the UK?
It is completely legal to place bets at Spreadex if you’re a customer located in the UK. Their head office is situated in the UK and their gambling license is also local, coming from the UKGC. You can bet on Spreadex sports or even dip into financial trading safe in the knowledge that it’s safe and trustworthy.
As the UKGC license hints at, Spreadex is a British-owned company which was founded back in 1999. Its headquarters are located in St Albans and Jonathan Hufford acts as the Managing Director. Over the years, Spreadex has not only acquired other companies but also won numerous awards, including multiple ‘Best Spread Betting Provider’ accolades. In other words, this is a firmly established UK betting site which does everything legally and in a manner which is safe for its customers.
Spreadex Welcome Package 🎁
When I started reviewing Spreadex, I wasn’t sure whether they would offer a traditional welcome bonus, because of the spread betting and financial trading aspects of the site. But they do – and it’s a pretty solid one at that.
To qualify, you have to be a new player who is making their first real-money deposit. In exchange, you’ll pick up some valuable freebies to kick-start your time at the betting site.
Spreadex welcome bonus
GET £50 IN BET BONUSES
If you qualify for the offer, you’ll receive a £5 free bet each day for five days, in addition to one when you qualify and one at the end of the five days.
How to claim Spreadex welcome bonus

- Deposit and place a fixed odds bet
- If you bet £25+, you’ll receive the maximum bonus of £35 in free bets
- Receive a free £5 bet each day for five days, plus a £5 free bet before and after
- Use your free bets within 28 days
📢 "The Spreadex welcome package stacks up well against the competition, offering punters the opportunity to boost their bankroll with several free bets."
Spreadex welcome bonus terms and conditions
The terms and conditions at the time of my Spreadex sports review were quite relaxed, with no wagering requirements on your free bets. The main things to remember are:
- You’ll receive up to seven free £5 bets, mostly on separate days
- You need to use them within 28 days
- There are no wagering requirements, although you won’t receive the stake back
- You’ll receive six ‘free £5 fixed odds bets’ and one ‘free £5 Total Goals spread bet’
Any other bonus for new users
You’ll see two different pages which appear to refer to two different welcome bonuses, but they’re both actually the same thing. One page only covers the two free £5 bets, while the second page includes details on the 5 x £5 daily free bets. You can claim all of the above when you deposit and bet £25.
Spreadex Sports Features
If you’ve followed this Spreadex review up until now, you can probably guess the top features. Here’s a little bit more about my favourite things in the Spreadex sports section:
Spreadex spread betting
One of the things which made my Spreadex review so unique compared to my reviews of other betting sites is the ability to take part in spread betting. It’s a unique way of betting which has a really interesting upside, where you can lock in profit and then sit back and hope for more with no fear of losing. Just make sure you understand how it works before you place any sizeable bets, as you could lose too.
Packed out blog
The blog here’s not just an excuse by Spreadex to include sports words here and there – it’s actually a very helpful and interesting portion of the website, complete with match previews, betting recommendations, and even fun quizzes.
Bet limits
Most modern online betting sites offer bet limits, and this is indeed the case at Spreadex too. However, it deserves a special mention here, because of the use of spread betting. There is always a risk of bigger losses than your initial stake, which is why bet limits (and stop losses) can come in really handy. If you’re out of your comfort zone, this should be your first step.
In-play betting
Spreadex betting is available in-play, and that includes the more interesting spread betting markets. Because bets are being bought and sold dependent on the action, you can sometimes grab some terrific odds if you’re fast to act.
Spreadex Sports Coverage
I’ve already established in this Spreadex review that there are some truly unique betting options at the site. But, taking it back to the basics, how many sports are there to bet on? And which are the most popular?
Here’s a bit more about the types of sports you can bet on at Spreadex.
Spreadex Football Premier League
You’d struggle to find a single online betting site which doesn’t offer Premier League betting. But, because Spreadex delivers new and unique markets, it’s excellent for footie fans.
Spreadex Football Outrights
Because football is so popular, it’s worth mentioning the spread betting options on outrights. For example, if you bet on Brazil to win the World Cup, you could make profit even if they fall short, as long as they progress to a certain stage.
Spreadex Horse Racing
Spreadex understands how high on the agenda horse racing is for fans of online betting, and as such there’s a gigantic selection of markets available on all major UK and Irish horse races – plus international options.
Spreadex sponsorship deals
You’ll notice that Spreadex has official sponsorships with some of the most established football clubs in the UK, including Burnley FC, Fulham FC and Sunderland AFC. Working with such well-known UK sports organisations acts as further evidence of Spreadex playing air, which makes it more trustworthy in the eyes of many players.
Spreadex Betting Markets
There are plenty of sports at Spreadex, and even more markets. This is especially true given the spread betting aspect, which opens up a whole new series of Spreadex betting options.
Spreadex Betting Markets:
- Football outright: Bet on the outright winner of a competition like the Premier League and receive staggered winnings, depending on how close the team come.
- Football (obscure): There are some truly interesting markets on football betting at Spreadex, like the combined total shirt number of a match’s scorers.
- Horse race winner: You can also enjoy top odds and diverse options on the winner of any horse race.
Spreadex Types of Bets Available
- Single: One bet on the winner of a single event, like a horse race.
- Acca: Multiple singles can be combined into an accumulator. You get bigger odds, but all of your selections need to land for you to win.
- Spread betting: The Spreadex betting specialty; spread betting opens up tonnes of new options for you across all sports
Spreadex Mobile Apps
If you regularly read betting site reviews I’ve written, you’ll know I’m not a massive fan of betting apps. However, I can see the merit of them when it comes to spread betting.
Spread betting is a little more complicated than fixed odds betting, with lots of buy and sell markets. A misclick can be very costly, so it’s important to double check each bet you place. And I’ve found that betting apps are better for this.
As part of my Spreadex review I downloaded the Spreadex betting app on iOS and found it to be very slick. Buttons are bigger and clearer for a mobile screen, which is ideal. Even if you’re not much of a betting app fan, I’d recommend downloading it to give it a try.
Spreadex Sports Bonuses and Promotions
Spreadex UK players can get a juicy welcome bonus, but there are lots of other promotions which can be claimed even after you’ve used up your sign up offer.
I checked out the latest special deals at Spreadex to give you a quick rundown:
- Spread-free bets. Place three qualifying spread bets and get the fourth free.
- Second to a rag insurance. Money back as a free bet if your horse comes second behind a 33/1+ winner.
- Refer and earn. Get your friends to sign up and earn a £100 free bet.
- First past the post. If your horse wins and is later demoted for interference, Spreadex pays out on both horses.
Spreadex Casino
Before I began my Spreadex review, this didn’t seem to me like the type of site that would have an online casino. So much energy is focused on spread betting, and they even have a whole section dedicated purely to financial trading. Would they really have the resources to create a Spreadex casino?
The answer is yes – and it’s a good one, too. Spreadex casino can be located by clicking on the ‘Casino’ tab which is at the top of the homepage but still quite discreet. It will bring you to a separate section which has a banner with the latest games or offers, followed by a series of top slots.
Narrow your search with categories in the top menu such as ‘Slots’, ‘Roulette’, ‘Megaways’ and so on.
I saw no option to play slot games for free, nor to search by a specific provider. But the sheer selection of games is impressive, and includes popular titles like Gonzo’s Quest and Starburst.
There are over 45 live dealer tables covering classics such as live blackjack and live roulette. These sit alongside modern fan favourites including Dream Catcher, Crazy Time and Monopoly Live.
There are certainly some details that could be improved at Spreadex casino if it wants to compete with the top online casinos in the UK. But, when you consider how much this site is already offering, I was pleasantly surprised to see what they had in the way of casino games.
Spreadex Banking
As I mentioned earlier in my Spreadex review, banking is one area where the bookie could improve. They only accept limited payment methods like debit cards and cheques, but not e-wallets like PayPal, Ukash or Neteller. This will not be ideal for many of you, and so I’d like to see the Spreadex sports betting section allow more diverse deposits and withdrawals.
On the plus side, the minimum bet amount here is almost non-existent. Many markets allow you to place 1p bets, while others still have a low minimum of 15p.
When I did cash out to test the speeds of transactions, the money landed in my account fairly quickly.
Spreadex Customer Support
You can get in touch with the support by clicking the speech bubble in the bottom-right corner of the website. They’ll respond from 8am – 5:30pm. If I’m being honest, I’d rather they had longer hours – though given the complexity of spread betting, I understand why they might operate at more ‘standardised’ hours than other betting sites.
I did have a chance to speak with customer support and ask them some tricky questions, to which they replied in a helpful and professional manner.
Spreadex How to
From early on in my Spreadex review, I knew this was a useful betting site that many of you will love – but I also saw how off-putting it could be if you’ve never used a spread betting site before. So, to help you get started, I put together a simple ‘how to’ guide for Spreadex specifically.
⤿ How to open an account on Spreadex
Opening an account at Spreadex is simple. Here’s how to do it:
- Visit Spreadex. If you’re asked to choose between sports betting and financial trading, click ‘Create an account’ on the ‘Sports betting’ side
- Fill in your name, email, username and so on, then click ‘Continue’
- Fill in your remaining details and create your account
With just two pages, it’s a simple process. If you find you’re being asked for extra information or to await confirmation to create your account, make sure you haven’t accidentally clicked on the financial trading section of the site.
⤿ How to place a fixed-odds bet at Spreadex
There are many different bets and markets at Spreadex. Here’s how to place a standard, fixed-odds bet, just as you would at any regular online bookie:
- Visit the sports betting section of Spreadex
- Choose from the list of sports on the left-hand menu
- Select an event
- Near the top of the page, click ‘Fixed odds’
- Click on the odds of the market you want to add it to the bet slip
- Input your stake
- Click ‘Place bets’ to finalise your wager
⤿ How to place a spread bet at Spreadex
Another major selling point of Spreadex is the spread betting options, which can be confusing if you’re new to them. Here’s how to place a spread bet at Spreadex:
- Go to the sports betting section
- Find your sport in the left-hand menu, then choose an event
- Make sure ‘Spread betting’ is highlighted near the top of the page
- Find your chosen market and click ‘buy’ or ‘sell’, depending if you want to bet above or below the stated numbers
- Input your stake
- Confirm your bet to lock it in
