Weekend Horse Racing: Hamish Fancied to Storm Home at Goodwood

This year’s Glorious Goodwood meeting has produced a few shocks, leaving punters scratching their heads at the results in several races.

The final two days on Friday and Saturday feature some tricky puzzles to unravel, and bettors will need to study the form carefully before placing their wagers.

Read on as preview some of the standout races over the weekend, starting with a one-mile handicap which contains numerous in-form horses.

Highlights

  • Hannon handicapper looks intriguing.
  • Hamish is banker material
  • Time Lock a solid each-way bet.

Tacarib Bay Looks Ready to Strike

Trainer Richard Hannon Jr has an excellent chance of winning the Golden Mile Handicap on Friday, with Tacarib Bay looking primed to run a big race.

The four-year-old ran a stormer to finish sixth in the International Stakes at Ascot last weekend despite running from an unfavourable draw.

He is a best-priced 10/1 on several new betting sites to win at Goodwood and that looks excellent each-way value in a competitive race.

Hamish Can Claim Another Group-Race Win

Hamish was due to run in a Group 1 race at Ascot last weekend, but has been rerouted to the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood on Friday.

That decision can pay dividends for trainer William Haggas, who has saddled the horse to four previous victories at this level.

Hamish will relish the ground conditions and looks a banker bet at odds of 4/5 on UK betting sites to emerge victorious.

Time Lock Set to Shine

Free Wind is a hot favourite to win the Lillie Langtry Stakes on Saturday, with the step up to 14 furlongs expected to play to the horse’s strengths.

However, with eight runners set to line-up in the race, we fancy Time Lock to at least run into a place under jockey Ryan Moore.

Numerous top betting apps rate the four-year-old as an 11/2 shot to finish in the first three and she should be difficult to keep out of the frame.
