Sports Betting News: Punter Scoops Bumper £39,000 Payout

A punter who placed two separate bets worth £33 is laughing all the way to the bank after scooping a mind-blowing £39,000 windfall this week.

The customer banked £25,988.40 for a £1 Lucky 31 and £13,413.39 from a £1 each-way five-fold on one of the biggest UK betting sites

Read on as we look at how the bet unfolded before assessing some of the other top news from the sports betting industry this week.

Highlights

  • Punter turns £33 into £39,000.
  • World Pool hits new heights at Newbury.
  • Sunday evening racing experiment shelved.

Punter Stings the Bookies

The punter’s first two winners came over the jumps at Stratford, with Saint Bibiana and The Boola Boss getting the ball rolling.

Radio Goo Goo and Ey Up Its The Boss triumphed on the flat at Ripon, before Fancy Stuff cruised to an easy victory at Stratford to complete the bets.

With bet boosts and best odds guaranteed ensuring a payout just short of £40,000, the punter was left to reflect on a hugely successful day.

World Pool hits Record Mark at Newbury

The World Pool hit a record mark at Newbury last Saturday, with the total turnover reaching an eye-watering £14.6 million.

The total was more than double the £6.7m poured into the pools powered by the Hong Kong Jockey Club at the same meeting last year.

The next World Pool meeting the Irish 1,000 Guineas Day at The Curragh on Sunday – an event which will also spark a ton of traffic on horse racing betting sites

BHA Shelves Sunday Evening Racing

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is shelving Sunday evening racing following an unsuccessful six-meeting trial.

Punters, trainers, jockeys and stable staff were less than enamoured with the initiative, and the BHA has decided not to pursue the idea for now.

While turnover on betting apps showed a marginal increase, the overall figures were significantly lower than the targets set by the BHA.
