Premier League Matchday 26 Preview: Man United bid to keep rolling

The 2022/23 Premier League season continues apace this weekend, with the 26th round of fixtures featuring some hugely eye-catching match-ups.

The clash between Liverpool and Manchester United on Sunday is undoubtedly the standout game and could have a huge bearing on the outcome of their respective seasons.

We take a look at the latest round of games in the Premier League and assess some of the key betting angles to consider.

Highlights

  • It’s make or break time for Liverpool
  • Man City keen to put pressure on Arsenal
  • Battles galore at the bottom

Liverpool Eyeing Top Four Push

It is not too long ago that the best football betting sites would have made Liverpool odds-on favourites to defeat Manchester United at Anfield.

However, the Reds have failed to live up to expectations this season and are a long way adrift of the top teams in the Premier League.

Top bookies BetUK rate Liverpool as 8/5 shots to win the game, with the visitors priced at 7/4 and the draw available at 13/5.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are desperate to force their way back into contention for a top four finish, but will find it difficult to fend off in-form United.

The Red Devils clinched the Carabao Cup last weekend and remain in the hunt for three other trophies. They could be tough to beat this weekend.

Man City Face Tricky Newcastle Test

Reigning champions Manchester City have an almighty battle on their hands to win the Premier League title for the fifth time in six years.

Arsenal’s dominant 4-0 victory over Everton in midweek moved them five points clear of City and kept them in pole position to be crowned champions.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side will fancy their chances of putting pressure on Arsenal when they host Newcastle United in the lunchtime game on Saturday.

The Gunners are also at home against Bournemouth in one of the 3.00 pm matches and it is difficult to envisage them slipping up.

The Man City/Arsenal double can be backed at odds of 10/13 with BetUK and that will undoubtedly tempt plenty of punters.

EPL Relegation Battle Heats Up

Just nine points separate the bottom nine teams in the Premier League and none of that group can consider themselves safe right now.

With Bournemouth likely to find things tough at Arsenal, Southampton could move off the bottom of the table if they beat fellow strugglers Leicester City at St Mary’s.

Everton will be desperate to take something from their game at Nottingham Forest, particularly with a tough run of fixtures on the horizon.

Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United also have difficult matches this weekend against teams in the top half of the table.

However, Crystal Palace could be a team worth monitoring in the relegation market as they have not won in 2023. Their odds of 9/1 to go down will be slashed if they lose at Aston Villa this weekend.
