Newmarket July Festival 2024: Vandeek Expected to Bounce Back

The prestigious 2024 Newmarket July Festival offers sports bettors three thrilling days of top-class flat racing and betting opportunities.

Scheduled to be staged from July 11-13, the meeting is packed with Group races, competitive handicaps, informative maidens and more.

With that in mind, we have scoured horse racing betting sites to identify three horses we think are worth watching during the July Festival.

Highlights

  • Opera Singer could reverse Royal Ascot form.
  • Wokingham third can make amends in the Bunbury Cup.
  • Vandeek ready to showcase his talent.

Irish-Trained Fillies set for Falmouth Rematch

Porta Fortuna and Opera Singer are on track to meet in the Falmouth Stakes after finishing first and second in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien was beaten by son Donnacha O’Brien on that occasion, but his Opera Singer could reverse the form at Newmarket.

She is priced at odds of 4/1 on several UK betting apps which looks great value about a filly who should be better suited by the track on this occasion.

Orazio Fancied to Run a Stormer in the Bunbury Cup

Orazio did well to finish third from an impossible position in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot and can build on that run by winning the Bunbury Cup.

Trainer Charlie Hills believes the horse is a Group-race performer – a view which makes odds of 10/1 on new betting sites look extremely tempting.

The step up to seven furlongs should favour Orazio and he is strongly fancied to reward punters who keep the faith at Newmarket.

Vandeek on a Recovery Mission in the July Cup

Trainers Simon and Ed Crisford say they are extremely confident that star sprinter Vandeek will rediscover his best form in the July Cup.

Unbeaten as a juvenile, the son of Havana Grey but ran below par when finishing third in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock on his seasonal reappearance.

He subsequently missed the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot due to an abnormal blood count, but looks a good bet at odds of 6/1 on UK betting sites to bounce back at Newmarket.
