Frankie Dettori to Continue His Career in the United States

Frankie Dettori has reversed his decision to retire from horse racing and will continue his career in the United States next year.

The popular Italian jockey was due to quit the sport at the end of this year, but has told the Nick Luck Podcast that he will be riding in the US in 2024.

After announcing he was stepping away from the sport, Dettori kicked off what everyone believed would be his final year in the saddle.

However, several big race victories over the past few months have convinced Dettori that he can continue to be the scourge of betting sites next year.

He is scheduled to relocate to southern California in December and will ride as a freelance jockey over the following months.

Dettori has had a long-standing affinity with Ascot Racecourse, having hammered horse racing betting sites by riding seven winners in a day at the track in September 1996.

He added to his tally at this year’s Royal Ascot and will have his finial book of rides at the track on British Champions Day later this month.

While the odds are against Dettori going through the card again, it would be no surprise to see him sign off with at least one winner on what promises to be an emotional day.

While Dettori has recorded plenty of big race victories during his career, there are still a handful of events he is yet to add to his glittering CV.

They include the Kentucky Derby, which Dettori says is a big motivating factor in his decision to continue his career as a jockey.
