Euro 2024 – Last-16 Preview

England made a bright start in their opening group game against Serbia, but were fortunate to grab a 1-0 win after retreating into their shell in the second half.

The Three Lions were poor in subsequent draws against Denmark and Slovenia, yet are still favourites to lift the trophy on most UK betting apps

However, despite landing in the so-called ‘favourable half of the draw’, Gareth Southgate’s side make no appeal as a betting proposition.

Spain and Germany have been most impressive out of the more fancied teams and are on track to meet in what would be a blockbuster quarter-final.

Assuming they meet in the last eight, whichever team wins that tie would be strongly fancied to go on and lift the trophy in Berlin.

With several other big guns underperforming up to this point, punters would be well advised to look towards some of the lower-ranked nations to find value bets.

Austria were one of the most impressive teams during the group stage, losing narrowly to France before defeating Poland and Netherlands.

Odds of 19/20 to defeat Turkey in 90 minutes in their last-16 tie look tempting as their opponents were a little hit-and-miss in their three group matches.
