British Grand Prix: Hamilton & Russell Aiming to Sparkle on Home Soil

The 2023 Formula 1 season continues apace this weekend, with the British Grand Prix scheduled to take place at Silverstone.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has won seven of the nine races this season and the top betting apps rate him as an odds-on favourite to continue his dominance on Sunday.

However, Verstappen has never previously won the British GP – a factor that will give his rivals hopes of upsetting the odds this weekend.

Read on as we take a look at some of the key betting angles to consider ahead of a race that always delivers plenty of excitement.

Highlights

  • British stars set for a strong weekend.
  • Ferrari hoping for Perez slip-up.
  • Hamilton fancied for podium finish.

British Drivers Chasing Top 10 Finish

Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell had been building some momentum prior to a slightly disappointing showing at the Austrian Grand Prix.

However, with their team set to deliver major upgrades to the cars at Silverstone, the British pair look nailed on to finish in the points this weekend.

McLaren’s Lando Norris looks a good bet to join them after producing a storming drive to finish fourth at the Red Bull Ring last weekend.

Odds of 8/11 with several new betting sites on the British trio to finish inside the top 10 at Silverstone will likely attract plenty of interest from punters.

Perez Under Pressure from Ferrari

After winning two of the first four races this season, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has gone off the boil in the last few races.

He squeezed onto the podium in Austria, but may find it difficult to repeat the feat in the face of some stiff competition.

His teammate Verstappen should win the race, but Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc could join Hamilton in keeping Perez out of the top three.

Verstappen to win the race and Leclerc to be on the podium can be backed at odds of 15/8 on numerous UK betting sites and that looks decent value.

Hamilton Fancied to Maintain Excellent Silverstone Record

Seven-time world champion Hamilton loves racing at Silverstone, having finished outside the points just once in 17 previous F1 events.

While it will probably require Verstappen not to finish the race for Hamilton to emerge victorious, he is strongly fancied to bag a top three spot.

Hamilton is a best-priced 11/10 to secure a podium finish and that looks too good to ignore given his previous record at Silverstone.

Odds of 4/1 to finish first or second are also tempting, particularly if the forecast rain hits the Northamptonshire circuit.
