Betting Trends for the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse

Teahupoo will attempt to write his name into the record books by winning the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse for the third time on December 1.

Limestone Lad (1999, 2001 & 2002), Solerina (2003-2005), Apple’s Jade (2016-2018) and Honeysuckle (2019-2021) are previous three-time winners of the Grade One event.

The Gordon-Elliott trained horse is priced at 1/1 on several horse racing betting sites to win the race, but he may not have things all his own way this year.

We have studied the recent record books to uncover some key betting trends that we think will help you pick the winner of the 2024 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle.

Highlights

  • Age trend is against Teahupoo.
  • Stablemate may be troublesome.
  • Mullins could upset the odds.

  • Ten of the last 12 winners were aged five or six.

  • 10/12 winners had at least one previous win at Fairyhouse.

Teahupoo Bidding to Join the Greats at Fairyhouse

Teahupoo has defeated Honeysuckle and Impaire Et Passe in the last two renewals and will be a popular pick with punters to complete the hat-trick next month.

However, while he ticks the box in several key trends categories, it is worth noting that the seven-year-old must overcome recent history in one metric.

Ten of the last 12 winners of the race were aged five or six – a factor which suggests it may pay to look elsewhere for the winner.

Top Irish trainer Willie Mullins will be eager to throw a spanner in the works having failed to record a victory in this race since Arctic Fire triumphed in 2015.

He has five contenders in the entries including Lossiemouth and Mystical Power, and the former could be troublesome over two-and-a-half miles.

Odds of 2/1 on betting apps will likely disappear if Mullins decides to give Lossiemouth her first run of the season in the Hatton’s Grace.

Teahupoo’s stablemate Brighterdaysahead could also be competitive after recording an impressive victory on her seasonal reappearance at Down Royal earlier this month.

She fits most of the key trends highlighted above and looks decent each-way value at odds of 6/1.
