Netball is an internationally popular sport and has big tournaments taking place throughout the year. The top events are as follows:
INF NETBALL WORLD CUP
The International Netball Federation (INF) stages the Netball World Cup every four years. This is one of the biggest international netball competitions on the planet and has featured teams from over 40 countries since its inception in 1963. Like the FIFA World Cup, a different city hosts it each time. However, only 16 teams can make the tournament roster.
EUROPEAN NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The European Netball Championship is an annual competition with both an ‘Open’ section with the sport’s top talent on the continent and a ‘Challenge’ section for lower-level teams. The Netball Europe Championship was founded in 2010 and has grown every year since its inception.
NETBALL AT THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES
The Commonwealth Games brings athletes of all types from the Commonwealth nations together every four years, similar to the Olympic Games. Netball has been a featured event at every Commonwealth Games since 1998.
FAST5 NETBALL WORLD SERIES
The Fast5 Netball World Series is a particularly popular iteration of the sport among gamblers due to its play’s fast-paced nature. Fast5 has modified rules that benefit quick attacking strategies and only allows five players per side. The World Series also features Fast5 Netball’s ‘Power Play’ feature, where each team can nominate one quarter to have a 2x multiplier for their goals.
NETBALL SUPERLEAGUE
The Netball Superleague is one of the most popular domestic leagues globally, taking place entirely in the UK. It runs from February to July every year and features ten teams from England, Wales and Scotland.
