• In 2019, Coral Ladbrokes were embroiled in a controversial incident involving vulnerable gamblers, and were fined £5.9m. This raises questions over their ethics.
• The pre-match football betting odds (specifically) at Coral aren’t necessarily the best when compared to other betting apps, although overall their odds are pretty competitive.

If you live in the UK, you’ll definitely have heard of Coral. Reviews are largely positive, and with good reason; this is a site which really impressed me, from the number of products available to the design and attention to detail.

There is always a wide range of promotions happening at Coral bet. Some of these are ever-present, like extra places being paid on selected horse races. But you’ll also find one-off special offers, especially on football and horse racing. Personally, these are the two sports I bet on the most – and I’m sure that’s the case for many of you, too.

All sports are listed in the left-hand menu and everything is covered, including niche options such as e-sports and even WWE wrestling. You’ll also see some ‘Super Series’ options on sports like football and racing, where you can earn free bets.

There are plenty of markets, especially on the biggest sports. I checked the number of pre-match markets on an upcoming Champions League fixture and found more than 200 options on one match alone, which was a very impressive stat for my Coral review.

The payment methods here are varied, although it must be said you’ll find other betting apps and sites in the UK which have more options. Nonetheless, all the big hitters are here, including debit cards, and there’s even Apple Pay – which isn’t too common. More importantly, funds are transferred in a timely manner.

If you thought that a UK betting site founded in 1926 would be old fashioned, the contact options beg to differ. So, what makes Coral bet special? My review has already touched on many of the site’s strengths, but now I’ll dig into a few of the key features which really help it stand out.

Here are my favourite features which I found while conducting my Coral betting review:

Poker

Poker might be a slightly tentative feature, but it’s definitely worth a mention for two main reasons. Firstly, not all bookmakers have their own poker product. And secondly, it’s not as mainstream as sites like 888 or Unibet – which potentially increases your odds of avoiding the best players!

In-play betting

You’ll find in-play betting at quite a lot of UK betting sites these days, but Coral bet takes it especially seriously. This is partly due to their strong ties to the UK horse racing scene, which also means you can enjoy live streams when placing a qualifying bet.

#YourCall bets 

Coral offers bet builders, but these don’t always cover every possibility. Another option is #YourCall, which allows you to request a custom bet direct from Coral. Bets can be requested by tweeting @Coral and using the hashtag #YourCall. If they’re willing to take your bet, they’ll get back to you with a price, with a maximum payout of £25,000. 

Live Streaming 

Given how big horse racing is at Coral, it’s quite important for them to have a stellar live streaming product – and that’s exactly what you’ll find here. Some races are completely free to watch, even if you haven’t placed a wager, while most others have a minimum wager amount of £1 which is very reasonable

As you probably assumed before reading this Coral review, this is an online betting site with a massive array of sports. It would have been impossible for Coral to become so popular without this.

By far the main attraction at Coral, horse racing is covered extensively. Coral Football 

The other massive sport to bet on at Coral is football. There’s excellent coverage of the Premier League and international competitions, with in-play and pre-match betting available on the vast majority of matches. Odds are competitive and frequently in line with the best available.

As one of the UK’s biggest bookies, Coral also has a number of lucrative sponsorship deals which help to keep the brand relevant – especially when it comes to horse racing. They currently sponsor the Goodwood Festival, Newbury jumps, the Gold Cup, and more.

As touched upon earlier in my Coral review, there are a lot of sports to bet on here. But how in-depth are they? And what type of bets are available?

I downloaded the Coral app, which has all features including sports betting and casino in one place. I really liked the layout. Just like the website, I found it very easy to intuitively navigate.

As you’d expect from a massive online bookie like Coral, the betting app is available on both iOS and Android. I also noted that it can be used on Windows mobile devices, although I didn’t test this personally. If you’re just joining, you can claim the standard welcome bonus via your mobile, so there’s no need to set things up on desktop.

Coral is predominantly a sports betting site, but it also packs in plenty of online casino games. So, I thought I’d better check it out to give you the most complete Coral review possible. 
 
Click on ‘Casino’ in the top menu to visit the casino homepage. Visually, the casino has a nice layout. It’s clean and clear, unlike some busier casinos, but a small scrolling bar and a banner at the top of the page let you know about the latest games and offers without being intrusive. 
 
A number of sub-categories make it easy to find the specific types of games you’re after. For example, you can click on ‘Slots’, ‘Tables’, Jackpots’, ‘Slingo’, and so on.  
 
Some of the slots in the Coral casino UK will have the word ‘Exclusive’ in the corner, like Big Banker Slot and Well Well Well. This certainly earned some extra marks in my review of Coral, as any casino which has exclusive games is offering you something you can’t find elsewhere. That’s an important selling point when you think about how many online casinos exist for UK players. 
 
A separate tab is available in the top menu for ‘Live Casino’, and this takes you to a really unique page. It’s set up like an actual casino, with different tables dotted about the casino floor. Click on one of the dealer images to check out what games are on offer. I really enjoyed this, as it felt like a proper virtual casino and not just a list of games. 

As I mentioned earlier in my review, Coral could do with adding a few more banking options if it wants to keep up with its competitors.

But the options here are solid. Visa and MasterCard are included, along with Apple Pay and PayPal. Those options alone will cover most customers’ requests.

In order to create a thorough Coral review, I made extra deposits and withdrawals via the Coral app, using payment methods I don’t normally opt for. This was to test the transaction times. I found them to be as good as other top UK bookmakers.
