Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 28/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Sunday’s race card line up is short and sweet with just two meetings in the UK to analyse at Pontefract and Uttoxeter. Nevertheless, the opportunity to land some more profit is present again and below, we’ve compiled our selection of horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.

Best Tip #1:  Young Fire – Pontefract, 14:42

Wins have been sporadic for Young Fire, though he pushed to a well-earned victory when last seen at Haydock on July 19th and with confidence drawn from that performance.

The 9-year-old could be worth picking up again on betting sites as a well-treated runner in today’s second race at Pontefract, despite moving up 5lb in the ratings. David O’Meara’s charge gets the nod here.

Elsewhere, Jewel Maker is another entry with decent credentials. He enjoyed success over C&D at Pontefract just nine days ago and running over a similar distance today, he could be thereabouts again.

Current favourite Risen Again has had decent backing so far, though others are preferred.

Best Tip #2: Dicko The Legend- Pontefract, 16:42

Dicko The Legend went close before eventually finishing third at Pontefract on July 1st, though he went one better at York two days ago, seeing off 20 opponents to notch his first success on turf.

The 4-year-old has shown solid form over 5f before and dropping down a couple of grades today, he could be the one to position yourself behind.

It’s Showtime meanwhile, scored for the first time at Lingfield in May and hasn’t finished outside the first three places since. The consistent sort should be suited by this distance today and has solid claims.

Gis a Sub has been enjoying top billing, though he has plenty to prove over this trip despite being listed as the early favourite.

Best Roughie: Swapped – Uttoxeter. 14:25

Backing Swapped in this 2m 4f handicap chase at Uttoxeter requires a degree of blind faith with the 7-year-old making his first appearance since November last year, however, there are reasons to be positive about his chances off a bumper price.

He won three races in a row for a couple of different stables last summer before pulling up on back-to-back outings in the Autumn. Now tongue-tied for the first time, Swapped has a chance to unleash some of his obvious potential.

Dan Skelton’s Get Up Much has been hogging the spotlight on betting apps, however. The lightly-raced 6-year-old has been in good form this summer, posting a record of 1-2 from two outings at Uttoxeter since early June. With track experience a boost, Get Up Mush could well be the one to beat.

Stats and Insights

  • Stamina is usually the watchword at Pontefract due to the steep final three-furlong finish at the end of the track. Trainers Tim Easterby and Richard Fahey are usually the names to watch out for during flat meetings at Pontefract.
  • Uttoxeter is a fair setting in the main, though the fences there can be challenging, so we like our tips to be confident jumpers. Jockeys Sean Bowen, Harry Skelton, Brian Hughes and Sam Twinston-Davies have all been regular winners at Uttoxeter over the last five seasons.
