Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 31/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Punters have meetings at Beverley, Chelmsford, Chester, Lingfield, Newton Abbot, Sandown and The Curragh to look forward to today on an action-packed Saturday race card.

Yesterday, we delivered the goods yet again, landing yet another winning tip thanks to Chutzpal’s strong showing at Wexford. Keep reading to consume today’s free horse racing betting tips.

Best Tip #1:  State Actor – The Curragh, 16:35

Bill Farrell’s gelding State Actor has been progressing well this year and his top performances include a maiden win over C&D at The Curragh in April and a second triumph at the track shortly after that on his handicapping debut in May.

The unexposed 4-year-old was a little unfortunate to finish fourth last time out but with Colin Keane booked for the saddle today, he has the potential to bounce back.

Elsewhere, Genuine Article could be another name to consider on horse racing betting sites. He’s been knocking on the door of late and a solid run to third at Leopardstown town was followed up by a close call at Galway, where he was seen off by just half a length.

Jockey James Ryan adds a 3lb claimer today and Genuine Article is primed to make another bold bid.

Best Tip #2: Quietness – Beverley, 13:30

Quietness has been a monster since joining Marcus Tregoning’s stable and her last win at Thirsk on August 9th was her fourth triumph in five outings.

With that blistering form behind her, the 4-year-old is easily backed and though she has a 6lb increase to bear, that’s unlikely to slow this progressive filly down. Quietness gets the nod here.

A challenge could also be posed by Walter Hartright. The prominent racer has stepped things up since adding blinkers and won four events in a row between June and July over distances of 1m 4f and 1m 3f.

Two of those wins came at this track, so he’s got to be thereabouts again on his return to Beverley today.

Best Roughie: Feel The Need – Sandown, 13:50

The day’s first race at Sandown has an open feel, but preference is given to Feel The Need ahead of the rest. The 4-year-old shaped up well and was far from disgraced when finishing second at York last time out (June 14) and competing over the same distance today, there is more potential to unlock.

A 2lb rise in the ratings doesn’t feel significant while the experience of Rossa Ryan in the saddle only adds to his prospects.

Waiting All Night has had plenty of backing on betting apps and should be in the mix provided he isn’t unsettled by a change of scenery.

The 4-year-old has been in top form over the last month, posting a record of 2-3-1-2-1 from his last five runs, however, all five of those races were at Newmarket. Nevertheless, Richard Spencer’s charge’s claims cannot be dismissed.

Stats and Insights

  • The Curragh provides a unique setting, though stamina is usually a key attribute there due to the testing uphill finish at the circuit. Jockeys Colin Keane, Ryan Moore, WJ Lee, Shane Foley and Seamie Heffernan are the names to track closely at The Curragh.
  • There is a sizable draw bias to watch out for at Beverley for horses drawn low as it can be tough to make up ground from wider positions. Trainers Tim Easterby and Richard Fahey have both posted 30 or more wins at Beverley over the last five flat seasons.
  • Sandown is a galloping track in nature and horses need plenty of staying power to succeed there. Jockeys William Buick, Ryan Moore, Oisin Murphy and Tom Marquand are all riding at Sandown today and all four have tasted success on numerous occasions at Sandown before.
