Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 31/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Wednesday’s race card line-up features five meetings across the UK and Ireland, and while the Galway Festival hogs the spotlight again, events at Goodwood, Leicester, Redcar and Sandown provide a strong supporting cast to the main act. Below, we’ve assembled our latest horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.

Best Tip #1:  Subsequent – Goodwood, 13:50

Subsequent gobbled up every yard of his win at Salisbury over 1m 4f on June 24th to win with relative ease and though the 3-year-old already looks built for longer distances, he should be right in the mix over the same trip today.

That was Subsequent’s second win in a row and though he has slid up 7lb in the rankings, he remains a candidate at an attractive price on horse racing betting sites here, especially with Oisin Murphy on board.

The Gosdens’ Lord Of Love arrives as another hattrick hunter having enjoyed back-to-back wins at Newmarket and Salisbury in June and July.

He wore cheekpieces in those wins and will have headgear applied again today. He has incurred a 4lb weight increase, though he looks capable of performing again regardless.

Best Tip #2: Valkyrian – Leicester, 20:05

Valkyrian has been in excellent form this summer and is favoured to complete her hattrick in this evening’s penultimate race at Leicester.

Both of her recent victories were achieved in Class 5 races over a distance of 1m and though she moves up in grade over a slightly longer distance today, she remains the likeliest charge to set the standard against a beatable list of rivals.

Youarnotforgiven looks like the best of the rest and dropping down in grade today, the 6-year-old could offer a challenge.

Two of his four career wins have come at this track, including one race over this trip and today, he runs off a mark that is 4lb lower than it was for his last triumph at Leicester.

Best Roughie: Mister Policeman – Galway, 19:10

This year’s lucrative Galway Plate promises to be keenly contested, though the nod goes to Willie Mullins’ Mister Policeman for the prestigious event. A winner on his chase debut at Fairyhouse back in November, the 6-year-old was victorious at long odds at Thurles in March following another triumph at Punchestown shortly before that.

He pulled up when last seen (Punchestown), however, jockey Paul Townend is back in the saddle here and Mister Policeman has the credentials to be a big player.

Elsewhere, Gavin Cromwell’s Perceval Legallois, who carries the sharpest price on sports betting apps, is another likely contender. A winner at Galway on what was his chasing debut last October, Cromwell has been building his 7-year-old up for a big push at today’s race.

Lets Go Champ, who won at Punchestown over 2m 4f in May, looks the likeliest player from Henry De Bromhead’s stable.

Stats and Insights

  • Goodwood provides one of the more unique settings on the UK circuit and most horses will be challenged by the tricky nature of the course. Andrew Balding, William Haggas and Richard Hannon are usually the trainers to watch out for at Goodwood.
  • Plenty of stamina is usually required at Leicester due to the undulating nature of the track. Trainers Roger Varian (27%) and George Boughey (26%) have had the best win rates at Leicester over the last five flat seasons.
  • The course at Galway features sharp turns and testing undulations to overcome, so speedier types are often favoured when selecting our tips there. Yesterday, on day two of the Festival, Adrian Paul Keatley’s Gale Maher won the Colm Quinn BMW Novice Hurdle to pocket over €20,000 in prize money.
