Sunday’s race card is a light affair with just three meetings across the UK and Ireland at Epsom Downs, Southwell and The Curragh to dissect. Yesterday, our three picks returned two winners thanks to Lion Ring’s success at Chelmsford and Hotazhell’s triumph at The Curragh. Let’s hope for more of the same from our latest horse racing betting tips below.
Best Tip #1: My Mate Alfie – The Curragh, 15:15
My Mate Alfie has been in good form this season and won a 6f Listed race at The Curragh in June before running a close third in the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes at the same track in August.
Last time out, Ger Lyons’ talented 3-year-old saw off a challenge from today’s rival Torivega to win a premier handicap at The Curragh again, and as the highest-rated contender in today’s race, he could take some stopping again.
Super Sox meanwhile, looks like a viable alternative at a slightly bigger price on betting sites for horse racing. A winner in a 7f maiden at The Curragh in May, Super Sox also claimed top billing in a 7f Listed race at Cork in August and today’s trip should suit him nicely.
With William James Lee in the saddle, Paddy Twomey’s charge should have what it takes to launch a bold bid.

Best Tip #2: Arkhalia Flynn – Epsom Downs, 16:40
Akrhalia Flynn was unable to complete his hattrick last time out when finishing second at Haydock, however, he still gets the nod here and has been backed to bounce back.
The son of Ulysses has been handed a lenient 1lb rise despite winning three times in four races before Haydock and having already won twice over this distance since August, Arkhalia Flynn should have what it takes to set the standard again.
Elsewhere, Glam Squad catches the eye are a potential progressive candidate. A double handicap winner in the summer at Yarmouth and Wolverhampton, he was far from disgraced when finishing third at Southwell when last seen on August 29th and if he can handle today’s conditions, he could be a player.
Condor Pasa, who won a Carlisle maiden in the summer, completes the trio of shortlisted runners.

Best Roughie: Love Safari – Southwell, 16:15
Love Safari recently switched over to David O’Meara’s stable and made his debut at Ayr nine days ago for his new connections, finishing 7th from a field of 13th.
However, improvement can be expected from this 3-year-old, who was knocking on the door in the summer with two narrow defeats in similar races. Today’s event with seven runners could provide Love Safari with another opportunity to overperform.
Environment Amigo is the ante-post favourite on the best betting apps and could be the horse to beat, however.
A winner here at Southwell as recently as August 26th, a push to second place at Yarmouth ten days ago was another good effort and if today’s upping in trip can be managed by Hollie Doyle, the 3-year-old should be firmly in contention again.

Stats and Insights
- The Curragh offers horses a unique setting to navigate with a tough uphill final flourish to conquer, so stamina is usually a good attribute to have there. Jockeys Ryan Moore, Colin Keane, WJ Lee, Shane Foley and Seamie Heffernan are in action at The Curragh today and all five know how to produce the goods there.
- The circuit at Epsom Downs is an undulating run with left and right-handed turns, making it a tough track to negotiate. Trainers Andrew Balding, Jim Boyle, Ralph Beckett, John & Thady Gosden and George Boughey are usually the names to watch out for here.
- Stamina is required at Southwell to handle the deep Fibresand surface at the track. Horses trained by Michael Appleby, KR Burke, Scott Dixon, Ivan Furtado and Tony Carroll are worth looking out for on the AW track at Southwell.
