Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 29/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

A new week commences with a bumper race card on Monday which features meetings across the UK and Ireland at Ayr, Southwell, Windsor, Wolverhampton and Galway. As always, we’ve been poring over form guides to find an edge in the markets and below, we’ve assembled three expertly-chosen horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.

Best Tip #1:  Enfranchise – Galway, 19:10

The seven-day Galway Festival kicks off this evening and the Connacht Hotel Handicap is the pick of the events on day one. There are numerous contenders with credentials for the race, however, we’re giving the nod to JJ Hanlon’s Enfranchise.

A winner in a maiden hurdle at last year’s festival, the 6-year-old looked the part when winning at Gowran Park in May in a Listed race and with Mr Derek O’Connor in the saddle, he should have a decent shot at following up.

Elsewhere, defending champion Teed Up should be primed and ready to push for Emmet Mullins. Alongside winning last year’s renewal, Teed Up also went close in the Guinness Handicap and his ordinary form so far this year is probably best dismissed ahead of today’s run.

Willie Mullins’ Lot of Joy is another name to consider on the best horse racing betting sites in the UK.

Best Tip #2: Pol Roger – Ayr, 16:10

Pol Roger is something of a course specialist at Ayr and each of his last four races have been run at the Scottish circuit.

The 4-year-old won back-to-back events there over C&D in May and clocked second-placed finishes in successive races there in June and July. If that kind of form can be reproduced today, he’s certain to be in the mix on his return to the track.

David O’Meara’s Stressfree could have what it takes to offer a challenge if conditions suit. His previous successes have been earned on softer and heavier ground, though market movement has already indicated that he should be a player here.

Chaturanga, who carries Hollie Doyle in the saddle, completes the trio of likely candidates at Ayr.

Best Roughie: Winter Crown – Windsor, 19:05

Winter Crown jumps back down over the border today having produced two decent efforts in Scotland.

The 4-year-old has placed second in two of his last three races overall and Miss JA Camacho’s charge is a capable performer over 6f. Today’s Fitzdares Handicap could offer Winter Crown another opportunity to shine off a very attractive price on betting apps.

BR Millman’s Amazonian Dream meanwhile, is also expected to be among the front runners. He managed to score in two of his last three runs, with both of those victories coming at Windsor over 6f.

Indeed, all five of the 5-year-old’s last races were at the same track and with the prolific Oisin Murphy booked for the saddle, Amazonian Dream could be tough to tackle.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Galway has several tight turns to navigate and some undulations to traverse, so speedier types can often be the ones to back. Trainer DK Weld, known as the “King of Ballybrit” has a reputation for delivering the goods in Galway.
  • The circuit at Ayr has sweeping bends, nine fences per lap and features an uphill sprint to the finish line. With 70 wins, Jim Goldie has been by far the most successful trainer at Ayr in flat races over the last five seasons.
  • Windsor is laid out in an unorthodox figure-of-eight shape and there are tight bends to tackle there as a consequence. Jockeys Tom Marquand, Oisin Murphy and Rossa Ryan are in action there today and all three have won plenty of races at Windsor over the last five campaigns.
