Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 26/09

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Thursday brings another busy day of racing across the UK and Ireland with meetings at Newmarket, Perth, Pontefract, Southwell and Listowel to look forward to. Ahead of the action on the track, we’ve assembled another trio of horse racing betting tips for your punting pleasure. Check them out below.

Best Tip #1:  Fighter – Newmarket, 15:55

Fighter has looked the part since the addition of blinkers and with that headgear on, he managed to lodge wins in each of his last two races at The Curragh and Leopardstown over 1m2f and 1m5f respectively.

He won comfortably on both occasions and looks ready to take today’s stiffer challenge on. The Aiden O’Brien and Ryan Moore combination has the potential to be formidable here and the 3-year-old gets the nod.

Tom Clover’s Al Nayyir meanwhile, is the contender with the tightest price on the best horse racing betting sites at present.

The 6-year-old moved over from Dubai and finished second at York in a Class 1 race at the end of August, while the charge also has a listed triumph in France under his belt. Based on that kind of form, Al Nayyir should be in with a shot here.

Best Tip #2: Overture – Pontefract, 15:10

Sir Mark Prescott’s Overture arrives at Pontefract in sizzling form having beaten all to win each of her last five races and a 6lb increase is unlikely to hamper her chances of following up again today.

Two of her last four victories came over a similar distance to today’s test and with jockey Luke Morris retained for the saddle, the talented 3-year-old looks primed to set the standard again.

Elsewhere, Mr Monaco could be another name to consider. A winner at Sandown in August over 1m2f, Mr Monaco finished third in a Class 2 race at Newmarket in the summer and was far from disgraced when landed in fourth at York when last seen. T

oday’s race should be slightly less competitive, so another bold bid is anticipated from the youngster.

Best Roughie: Cardamon Hill – Perth, 14:27

Cardamon Hill failed to get going when finishing 7th at Cartmel on his last outing in the summer, though he showed a different side to his character in successive races at Perth before that.

A win over 3m at that venue in June was followed up by another solid run to second at the course a month later. Returning to the same circuit should suit the 7-year-old today, who carries a sizable price on betting apps in the UK.

Miss Lucinda V Russell’s Chapel Green could provide a shorter-priced option for bettors in search of something safer.

He was back on song again at Kelso in May, winning ahead of six others in a Class 4 Chase Handicap and though he has been out of action since, he should be in the mix again here if previous efforts can be replicated.

Stats and Insights

  • Known as the “home of flat racing “, Newmarket has a couple of infamous dips to tackle a few furlongs from home and the wild undulations can catch some horses out. Jockeys William Buick, Oisin Murphy, James Doyle and Ryan Moore all know what it takes to win at Newmarket.
  • Stamina is a key attribute to possess at Pontefract due to the stiff nature of the rack and the inclined finish at the course. Trainers Tim Easterby, Richard Fahey, KR Burke, David O’Meara and Kevin Ryan are the names to watch out for at Pontefract.
  • The circuit at Perth is mostly a fair setting and most horse types have a good chance of enjoying success there. Look out for horses trained by Gordon Elliott, Lucinda Russell, Olly Murphy, Donald McCain and SRB Crawford at Perth.
