Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 26/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card lineup is packed to bursting with potentially profitable meetings at Chepstow, Doncaster, Newcastle, Perth, Sandown, Cork and Downpatrick across the UK and Ireland. Yesterday, one of my three selections placed from a big price, however, we scored two more winners with Shadow Rider and Take No Chances delivering the goods at Wexford and Warick respectively. View our latest horse racing betting tips for Friday’s action below.

Best Tip #1:  Roaring Legend – Chepstow, 18:40

Roaring Legend pulled up at Cheltenham when he was last seen, though he has undergone wind surgery since and a rating of 119 for his return seems fair.

Olly Murphy’s four-year-old drops back down a few grades today and that could make a big difference as he attempts to score over hurdles for the first time. With Dylan Johnston in the saddle, Roaring Legend has strong credentials.

Competition could be offered by Banteer, who represents Paul Nicholls in the fifth race at Chepstow. He struggled on soft ground at Wincanton in his last race on March 27th, though he could improve on that 6th-place finish today when moving back in trip with good conditions.

Dog Fox has each-way possibilities if he can find some improvement after a 4th at Market Rasen and a 5th at Huntingdon. He’s worth a market check on the best horse racing betting sites.

Best Tip #2: Surf Club – Downpatrick, 17:50

Surf Club scored over fences at Tramore just four days ago to break his duck and with that fresh shot of confidence administered, he can win for the first time over timber at Downpatrick.

Still lightly raced, despite being 8 years old, Willie Mullins’ charge should be suited to the conditions in Waterford today and should be the one to beat, especially with prolific jockey Paul Townend involved.

Gordon Elliott’s Gaye Winnie looks like another possible contender, albeit at a wider price. The 6-year-old hasn’t seen action since November last year, though she won on her last visit to Downpatrick over a shorter distance back in August.

Jacenry is another for shortlists after runs to first and second at Down Royal to start the year.

Best Roughie: Old Gregorian – Perth, 13:30

Old Gregorian was runner-up in a bumper at this meeting in Perth last year and managed to score on his hurdles debut at Kelso last October. He also shaped up well to finish third in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle race on his first appearance of the new year in early February.

Miss Lucinda V Russell’s 5-year-old has had wind surgery since and will be tongue-tied today. He should have plenty to offer here.

Rascal has been topping the bill on betting apps in the ante-post scramble. He improved to finished second at Huntingdon on April 1st and is up just 3lb here.

He should be in the reckoning alongside Olly Murphy’s Dominic’s Fault. The low mileage 7-year-old will be eager to emulate a January win at Leicester in a Class 3 race and should be in the mix when dropping down a grade today.

Stats and Insights

  • The undulations at Chepstow are tricky to get around and that can unsettle gallopers looking to build up a head of steam. Trainer Paul Nicholls has nine wins from 36 races at Chepstow this season while jockey Harry Cobden has eight victories from 27 efforts.
  • The track at Downpatrick is narrow enough and is another circuit that requires agility to navigate the tight turns. Trainer Gordon Elliott has 16 wins at Downpatrick this season, which makes him the biggest winner at the racecourse by some distance ahead of Willie Mullins (six).
  • Perth is a largely fair setting and can suit most types on good days. There is a lengthy finish flourish to race through after the final fence and that can produce drama. Jockey Sean Bowen seems to relish racing at Perth and he’s already had 16 wins there this season.

Best Offers and Promotions

Seasoned bettors tend to know just how valuable online betting offers and promotions can be, however, if you’re new to the game, it’s always worthwhile to learn as much about the different bonuses and promos available to you on the market. Indeed, taking advantage of those offers can often give you an edge over the bookies.

Horse racing betting fans in particular are spoilt for choice when it comes to bookmakers’ promotions. For instance, at Betzone, new signups can claim up to £60 in free bets if they open an account and meet certain qualifying requirements. Betzone also provide some of the keenest odds around while their mobile app is as slick as they come. Make sure to read our detailed Betzone review to learn more.
