Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 25/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Monday’s race card features just a couple of meetings in the UK at Kempton and Ludlow, though there is still plenty of room to manoeuvre in our search for profit despite the light day of racing head. Ahead of the action, we’ve compiled a trio of free horse racing betting tips for your punting pleasure. Check them out below.

Best Tip #1: Craven Bay – Kempton, 14:00

Craven Bay has really picked up the pace since switching stables to Toby Lawes and the improving 8-year-old won each of his first two races for his new connections at Warwick and Hereford in Class 4 Hurdle Handicap events before going close to completing a hattrick at Fontwell (2nd) earlier this month.

The in-form charge could kick on again here and earns our nod for today’s 3m 110y handicap hurdle at Kempton.

Elsewhere, Heaven Smart could be another name for shortlists at a bigger price on online horse racing betting sites.

The 7-year-old struggled to stay over longer trips at Hereford and Fontwell in his last two outings, however, he did come up trumps in a Class 4 Novice Handicap Chase at Kempton in February and could spark on his return to the scene of that triumph here.

Best Tip #2: Melton Mossy – Ludlow, 15:25

With a record of four wins from seven handicap races, Melton Mossy has got to be factored into calculations here and Evan Williams’s specialist is backed to set the standard in the day’s last race at Ludlow.

The 5-year-old won at this venue over a slightly shorter distance as recently as November 7th against similar company and though he has been knocked up 7lb by the handicappers, jockey Eleanor Williams comes equipped with a 7lb claimer.

Faerie Cutlass meanwhile, could be another name for consideration. Her only hurdle victory to date was lodged at Wincanton 18 months ago, however, she has been in the frame in six of her eight outings since that win and finished second at Ludlow in her most recent run in October.

Still unexposed as a stayer, Faerie Cutlass could be thereabouts again.

Best Roughie: Leave Of Absence – Kempton, 13:30

Somewhat ironically, Leave Of Absence hasn’t been seen since October 2022, which probably explains why he is currently available to back at such a bumper price on the best betting apps in the UK, however, in a small four-horse field, the 7-year-old has a shot at upsetting the odds.

A winner in three out of four races before his hiatus, Leave Of Absence has a good record to draw confidence from and has the ability to shake things up here.

Nicky Henderson’s Iberico Lord is the current market favourite and could be the one to beat, however. A top performer over 2m in the handicap hurdling sphere last term, the 6-year-old will be eager to pick up where he left of following an eight-month layoff.

Iberico Lord won the Greatwood at Cheltenham and the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury last season, so don’t be surprised if he sets a high bar again today.

Stats and Insights

  • Kempton is among the flatter courses in the UK and it tends to suit sprinting types, with stamina slightly a less important attribute. Trainers Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls and Dan Skelton have been the ones to watch at Kempton in recent seasons.
  • Galloping types are generally suited better to the track at Ludlow, though there are some tight turns to navigate, so a balanced skillset is required. Look out for horses trained by Fergal O’Brien, Henry Daly, Nigel Twinston-Davis, Venetia Williams and Alastair Ralph here.
  • Kempton runs for a mile and five furlongs around a right-handed circuit with little in the way of draw bias to factor into the largely fair setting. Nico de Boinville and Harry Cobden have been the top two trainers in jump racing at Kempton in recent campaigns.
