Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 24/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Racing fans have a whopper of a race card to look forward to on Saturday with meetings scheduled across the UK and Ireland at Cartmel, Goodwood, Newmarket, Redcar, Windsor, York, The Curragh and Killarney.

Ahead of the action, we’ve been picking through formbooks and price points to assemble three selections for today’s meetings. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Henri Matisse – The Curragh, 15:30

Henri Matisse has been earmarked for races over 7f for Aidan O’Brien before and the in-form 2-year-old should have little trouble tackling that slightly longer distance today.

Unbeaten so far and with both of his two summer wins earned at The Curragh, Henri Matisse is taken to launch a bold hattrick bid and should be difficult to beat.

Hotazhell, who represents Miss J Harrington’s stable, looks like the likeliest charge to mount a challenge to Henri Matisse.

The 200,000gns purchase looked the part when winning over 7f at The Curragh in June and also caught the eye a month later when winning again at Leopardstown.

Best Tip #2: Lead Artist – Goodwood, 14:40

The lightly-raced Lead Artist has been progressing well this year and showed excellent mettle to win the Group Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes at the Goodwood Festival earlier this month.

He has been in the frame in each of his last four races overall and won over 1m at York in May. Stepping up in class today shouldn’t be too much of an issue and he gets the nod ahead of the rest.

Ralph Beckett’s Sonny Liston could be another name to consider on the best betting sites for horse racing.

A notable runner up in the Royal Hunt Cup earlier this summer, he also competed well in the Sussex Stakes over C&D when last seen before fading late. He remains a strong contender here dropping down in class, however.

Best Roughie: Relentless Voyager – York, 15:35

The Sky Bet Ebor Handicap has several interesting combatants, but preference is given to Relentless Voyager on this occasion. The son of Ulysses was left behind by only one length on his last outing at Goodwood 21 days ago and was better than today’s rival Ziggy when the pair went head-to-head at Epsom in June.

A summer-best showing is needed today, but the 4-year-old should be considered at this price.

Andrew Balding’s Fairbanks is another with decent each-way claims. He takes solid form into today’s race with a record of 1-2-6-1-2 from his last five efforts.

Fairbanks was beaten by only a neck at Goodwood last time out, despite carrying 6lb extra in the ratings following a win at Newmarket before that. Balding’s charge is definitely worth a market check on sports betting apps.

Stats and Insights

  • The Curragh is considered an iconic and unusual setting in racing circles and plenty of stamina is usually required to succeed there. Aiden O’Brien has had 139 wins at The Curragh over the last five season and no other trainer can match his numbers.
  • Goodwood provides one of the more unique settings on the UK racing circuit and previous experience can come in very handy there. Trainers Andrew Balding, William Haggas and Richard Hannon have been among the most successful names at Goodwood in recent seasons.
  • York is another track for the gallopers due to the wide bends and the lengthy final straight towards the winning post. Jockeys Daniel Tudhope, Tom Marquand, William Buick, Ryan Moore and Jim Crowley all have proven credentials at York.
