Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 23/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Thursday’s race card line up features a plethora of meetings across the UK and Ireland at Catterick, Chelmsford, Lingfield, Market Rasen, Sandown and Limerick, giving punters plenty of scope to seek out profit. Yesterday, two abandoned events scuppered two of our three tips, however, our remaining runner Rajindri won in style at Kempton to maintain our hot streak. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Kilmurry Jj – Limerick, 20:00

Kilmurry JJ returned from a lengthy absence to score at Tramore on April 22nd on what was only his second outing for his new stable. That victory was earned well over a distance of 2m 6f and despite going up 8lb in the rankings today, he should go close over a similar trip.

The 7-year-old had plenty of market support last month and Kilmurry Jj has been attracting more attention on the best horse racing betting sites again today.

Elsewhere, Getaway Master could be another name for shortlists. Richard Daniels’s charge got off the mark in a handicap hurdle over C&D at Limerick in March and should be respected on his chase debut on his return to the track here.

Stormy Master, who won when last seen at Wexford a year ago, is another with possibilities.

Best Tip #2: Hawaiian – Sandown, 18:37

Kodiac colt Hawaiian won as favourite by a neck at Newbury on his debut last month showing plenty of mettle to get past the post after a late challenge. There should be more to come from the promising 2-year-old after an eye-catching bow and he is taken to deliver the goods again.

Trainer Richard Hannon has an excellent record in this race and more success could be in the pipeline for his stable here.

The unbeaten Enchanting Empress is expected to pose a stiff challenge, however. She won at Wolverhampton and then Ascot in April and May respectively, with both successful outings achieved over 5f.

The slight increase in trip today shouldn’t be an issue and another strong push is anticipated. Miss A Murphy’s Rock Hunter gave Enchanting Empress a run for her money at Ascot and could be involved again.

Best Roughie: Postivia – Catterick, 15:10

Owen Burrows’ See The Green is the clear favourite to earn top billing in the day’s third race at Catterick following solid showings at Ripon (2nd) and Wolverhampton (4th), though the 3-year-old’s odds-on price has opened up possibilities down the field.

Postitiva could be one to back off a big price on betting apps with the 4-year-old easily strong enough to put herself in the frame.

She was runner up in the first of her two bumpers at Sedgefield in March and again scratched at unearthed potential on her flat debut at Newcastle earlier this month (3rd).

If proceeding are slow paced, it could count against her, however, Postivia has enough about her to make her a viable pick. Yurinov, who was second at Ripon in late April, completes a trio of likely candidates.

Stats and Insights

  • The back straight at Limerick runs along a steep incline before things move back down the hill around the home bend, and that layout can allow horses to make up ground. Jockeys Danny Mullins, Sean Flanagan, Sean O’Keefe, Rachael Blackmore and Phillip Enright have all had double-figure wins at Limerick over the last five years.
  • The circuit at Sandown is a flat setting that tends to suit the galloping types. Trainer Charlie Appleby has won with 24 of his 74 entrants over the last five years there, while jockeys William Buick and Ryan Moore have posted win rates north of 20% at Sandown over the same period.
  • There are sharp bends to get around the undulation track at Catterick and previous course winners are often work a look there. Tim Easterby has been the top dog among trainers at Catterick over the last five years and nobody has come close to matching his 39 wins over that timeframe.
