Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 22/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings at Ayr, Kempton, Southwell, Warwick, Yarmouth and Gowran Park across the UK and Ireland fill up Wednesday’s race card line up, and with six events to plough through, another profitable afternoon could be in the pipeline. Yesterday, we landed yet another winner when Belloccio scored at Punchestown and you can check out our free horse racing betting tips for today’s action below.

Best Tip #1:  Mataariki – Gowran Park, 17:50

JP O’Brien’s Mataariki marked her debut in style last month when she roared home to a victory by four lengths over a distance of 1m at Gowran Park and returning to that track today, a follow-up victory for the Cracksman filly could be in the works.

The 3-year-old has been bred for longer distances, so the slight edge up in trip here shouldn’t pose any problems.

Elsewhere, Glor Tire could be another name for shortlists. She clocked up plenty of experience as a 2-year-old last year and returned to action on May 8th with a fine win at Gowran Park over C&D.

Having Gabriella Adela Hill in the saddle is a plus and Glor Tire, who is easily worth a market check on horse racing betting sites, should be thereabouts again.

Best Tip #2: Rajindri – Kempton, 20:00

Rajindri finished the previous season in solid form and she returned to action in good shape for the new term last month when she finished runner-up in a Class 4 Handicap race at Yarmouth.

The 4-year-old is a previous winner at Kempton having done the business over 7f there last August and back at the same circuit, she should be a menace for her male competitors.

A competitive run is also expected from Giant. He returned gelded after the break and produced an excellent display to win a C&D handicap at Kempton in March and a repeat performance could put him in the frame again today.

Oisin Murphy was the jockey on that occasion and his booking today could give Giant an edge.

Best Roughie: Steal My Sunshine – Warwick, 15:08

Steal My Sunshine won two 2m4f handicap hurdles last year and though he has struggled to match those heights since, he could step things up for Dan Skelton today, especially with Harry Skelton back in control.

The 7-year-old finished 5th over hurdles at Warwick as recently as May 6th, however, the bigger obstacles could be more suitable today and he could threaten off a decent mark.

Coconut Twist meanwhile, has been a popular pick on sports betting apps. The 6-year-old, who is trained by Daisy Hitchins, hasn’t been seen since last summer, though he put together a run of 2-2-2-2-2 before his hiatus and on that form is easily put forward as a challenger.

Head On is another with each-way possibilities provided he rediscovers some confidence.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Gowran Park is galloping in nature and with the final three furlongs running along an incline, it can be difficult for trailing horses to make up ground. Jockeys Colin Keane, Ben Cowen, WJ Lee and Shane Foley have all been successful on numerous occasions at Gowran Park over the last five years.
  • Trainer Andrew Balding has posted 83 wins from 494 runs at Kempton over the past five years, though Charlie Appleby has a much better strike rate, winning with 34% of his entries at the track over the same period. Jockey Oisin Murphy has won 87 races at Kempton over the last half a decade.
  • The tight nature of the course at Warwick tends to suit more agile horses and with ten fences per circuit to conquer, confident jumpers can often excel. Dan Skelton rules the roost at Warwick and the top trainer has enjoyed 53 wins at Warwick over the last five years.
