Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 22/03

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There is a five-strong set of meetings scheduled across the UK and Ireland on Friday, and with events to analyse at Hexham, Lingfield, Newbury, Newcastle and Dundalk, the potential for profit is there again. We’ve laid out our expertly chosen horse racing betting tips for Friday’s race card line-up below to warm you up before the weekend.

Best Tip #1: The Newest One – Newbury 3.00

The Newest One is the horse to beat in the 3.00 at Newbury and with jockey Sam Twinston-Davies in the saddle, he should be difficult to stop.

Rated at 6lb higher than any of his rivals, the nine-year-old drops back a couple of grades here having hit third spot in a Class 1 Novice race at Doncaster in January.

Elsewhere, Ballybentragh is an Irish point winner with some merit. The 7-year-old has been involved in two races this year, winning at Sandown in January before running to second at Newbury earlier this month.

Classic King, who has seen movement in his direction on betting apps in the UK, could also come into the reckoning having put together a run of 2-1-2-2-2 over the past year.

Best Tip #2:  Run Boy Run – Newcastle 5.45

Run Boy Run looks well positioned to score for the first time for trainer Richard Spencer at Newcastle today ahead of an uninspiring list of alternatives.

The 3-year-old placed in second spot in three of his four starts as a juvenile and he should be comfortable dropping down in trip here. Expect Run Boy Run to set the standard in the second race of the day in the north east.

Restless Price carries the next shortest odds into proceedings, while Grandlad, who competes for the first time for James Horton, might be worth tracking in the markets ahead of time.

The same can be said of Adrian Nicholls’ £20,000 yearling C’mon Coyney, who has decent pedigree. Still, Run Boy Run has the tools to beat all comers here.

Best Roughie: Jailbird – Lingfield – 2.42

Jailbird landed in a promising fourth place on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month and looks to have clear possibilities over a slightly longer trip at Lingfield today.

The 3-year-old runs off a 1lb lower mark in the 2.42 and the extra distance should suit. Other horse racing betting sites have her outside the reckoning, but she could run into a place at the very least.

Cracker Star has a poor enough record ahead of today’s run; however, he drops down a couple of grades today and that could make the difference.

Bradman meanwhile – who is another one dropping back – has a record of 2-2-4-2 coming into this one and looks like he could be on the cusp of scoring.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Newbury is both flat and fair, and with a straight mile to run through, gallopers can really enjoy themselves. Trainer Nicky Henderson has nine wins at Newbury so far this season while jockey Harry Cobden leads the way there with eight victories this term.
  • Newcastle is the only all-weather track in the UK and another with a straight mile for galloping types to rattle through. The circuit is also wide enough to allow runners to run through late from deep. Trainer Kevin Ryan has a 35% strike rate at Newcastle this season.
  • Lingfield is a left-handed run with a triangular shape to get around, while the 7-furlong declining straight is often gobbled up by speedy horses. Jockey Jack Mitchell has six wins from 21 races at Linfield this season, while trainer Lisa Williamson has three wins from five entries.
