Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 21/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are six meetings at Lingfield, Southwell, Warwick, Wincanton, Wolverhampton and Thurles to keep us warm on this snow-riddled Thursday across the UK and Ireland. Yesterday, our selections were blighted by non-runners and abandoned events, so let’s cross our fingers for more fortune with our latest horse racing betting tips for Thursday’s card.

Best Tip #1: Lady Jago – Warwick, 15:00

Lady Jago claimed the spoils on her hurdling debut here at Warwick last month and landed in second spot in each of her following efforts at Market Rasen and Huntingdon against Class 4 company.

Dan Skelton moves Lady Jago into the chasing sphere today for her handicapping debut and there is every reason to believe that the 5-year-old can shine just as brightly in this new discipline.

Elsewhere, Fancy Stuff could be worth considering as a bigger-priced alternative on horse racing betting sites in the UK. The 7-year-old seemed to be hitting a rich vein of form in the summer and won back-to-back Chase Handicap races at Stratford and Bangor.

She regressed to 5th at Southwell when last seen in October, though her overall record suggests she could be a strong each-way candidate here.

Best Tip #2: Jacob’s Ladder – Thurles, 15:44

Jacob’s Ladder could have what it takes to justify his favouritism in the day’s last race at Thurles.

The 5-year-old, who was a point-to-point winner in March, impressed when finishing second in a bumper at the Punchestown festival in May and improved again to triumph at Down Royal on his return to action earlier this month. Gordon Elliott could earn more success with this promising charge today.

Willie Mullins’ Jarrive De Mee meanwhile, looks like another intriguing prospect The €80,000 purchase has excellent pedigree and is half-sister to several former French winners.

The 5-year-old came up trumps at Curraghmore in April and representing a top yard today, she could be ready to have another significant impact on her rules debut.

Best Roughie: Popular Dream – Southwell, 19:00

Popular Dream has failed to score in eight attempts, however, some of his displays this year have shown flashes of potential.

He landed in 5th spot on his last outing at Southwell nine days ago in a Class 4 Handicap over a trip of 5f and dropping down in grade today, the 5-year-old could progress to become a nifty each-way candidate for trainer Derek Shaw.

Dashing Harry could be the one to beat, however, as he returns for a third bash at Southwell having finished fourth and second in successive tests there earlier this month.

The 3-year-old, who is the early favourite on betting apps, rubbed shoulders with Class 4 opponents in both previous outings here and moving down the grades could do the trick to bring him on again today.

Stats and Insights

  • The course at Warwick is a tight setting and has a short final push after the last bend. More agile types tend to be suited better by the layout there. Trainers Harry Skelton, Jonjo O’Neill, Jonathan Burke, Tom Cannon and Nico de Boinville are the names to track closely at Warwick.
  • Extra stamina can come in handy at Thurles due to the track’s challenging uphill finish. Jockeys Paul Townend, Jack Kennedy, Darragh O’Keefe, Rachael Blackmore and Sean Flanagan have all had decent records a Thurles over the last five seasons.
  • The Fibresand surface at Southwell has plenty of depth underfoot, so stamina can be a useful attribute to bring to the party there. With 78 wins, trainer Michael Appleby has undoubtedly been the king of All-Weather racing at Southwell in recent seasons.
