Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 21/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings across the UK and Ireland at Carlisle, Kempton, Worcester, York and Sligo combine to fill Wednesday’s race card up and with five meetings to dissect, there should be plenty of profitable angles to consider. We’ve already delivered several wins this week and below, you can dive into our latest horse racing betting tips for today’s action.

Best Tip #1:  Flowstate – Carlisle, 15:15

Flowstate was a winner on his debut for David O’Meara at Ripon back in June and he followed that up with successive second-placed efforts at Doncaster and Ripon again after that in July.

The 3-year-old is used to this sort of distance and should have enough to make another bold bid on his handicapping bow today.

The chief threat could be offered by Miss J Camacho’s Infinity Blue. He runs off the back of a good win at Newmarket in what was a similar race to today’s over 6f. He hasn’t been with his current yard long, though, he is already improving and the retention of headgear today could help.

Travis, whose form has been solid, is another possible player and could be worth a market check on horse racing betting sites.

Best Tip #2: City Of Troy – York, 15:35

The Juddmonte International Stakes has a star-studded line up this year, though City Of Troy could have what it takes to confirm his burgeoning reputation with a win in this stellar event.

Aiden O’Brien’s champion flopped in the Guineas but bounced back in some style to win the Derby-Eclipse double. The relentless galloper will be thoroughly tested here, but has the class to shine again.

Elsewhere, French gelding Calandagan, who is a proven and versatile force, arrives at York on the back of three successive wins and really caught the eye when topping the bill in the King Edward VII Stakes at Ascot in late June.

In his current form, he’s got to be in with a shot of doing the business today.

Best Roughie: Verbal Sparring – Sligo, 17:38

Verbal Sparring was a letdown at Roscommon last time out and finished back in 12th on that occasion, however, before that, the 5-year-old was on a promising run and finished 2nd at Naas in April before winning at Sligo over 2m 2f in June.

Competing off an unchanged mark today, he could produce something back at the scene of his most recent triumph.

Kilbride Hill meanwhile, has been attracting plenty of interest on the best betting apps. Still lightly raced, he beat the rest to win at Sligo over C&D just 13 days ago and though he has climbed up 7lb in the ratings, he deserves plenty of respect again.

Dangerous improver Breagagh finished second at Wexford when last seen and could step things up here.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Carlisle is somewhat unusual and slightly pear-shaped. There is a long, gentle incline to climb to the finish line there. Tim Easterby, KR Burke, Richard Fahey, Kevin Ryan and Keith Dalgleish are the trainers to watch out for there.
  • York is a track for the gallopers with wide, sweeping bends and a lengthy final run in to power down. Jockeys Daniel Tudhope, Tom Marquand, William Buick, Ryan Moore and Jim Crowley all know what it takes to win at York.
  • There are tight bends and various undulations to conquer at Sligo, so horses with extra zip can often be the ones to back there. Trainers Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott and John Patrick Ryan have all lodged double-figure wins at Sligo over the last five jump race seasons.
