Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 21/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings at Stratford, Musselburgh, Wincanton, the Curragh, Tramore help to pad out Sunday’s superb race card line up and with five events to analyse, we’re confident that we can identify some more winners. Yesterday, our three selections returned two placed horses and a winner thanks to Economics’s success at Newbury. Let’s aim for more of the same in our latest horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.

Best Tip #1: Do It Now – Musselburgh, 16:15

Do It Now comes from a talented female line and he was no fool on April 1st when he came close to winning on his debut at Kempton. The 2-year-old was a close second on that occasion and with Tom Marquand taking over as jockey, he is taken to go one better on his second outing today at Musselburgh.

Prices are solid in the ante-post markets, though expect further movement in his direction.

Anthropologist failed to deliver on his favouritism at Chelmsford last month, though his third-place finish in that Class 2 Maiden showcased enough potential to suggest he could be a player today.

Other betting sites for horse racing have picked out Winchurch as a possible backer. He won well at Southwell on his debut earlier this month and should have credentials again despite his 5lb penalty.

Best Tip #2: Treasure Isle – The Curragh, 13:50

Prolific trainer AP O’Brien has several horses on show at The Curragh today and his 2-year-old colt, Treasure Isle, is generating some of the biggest buzz.

The No Nay Never relation has strong breeding in several directions and should be an exciting debutant as the first Ballydoyle juvenile put forward in 2024. Watch the markets closely, but Treasure Isle is an attractive prospect already.

Elsewhere, Irish Acclamation should also be thereabouts. She has had race experience already and showed up well to land third spot at Cork on her bow over 5f at the end of March. With that run behind her, she could progress over the same distance today.

Midnight Strike and Passing Phase are among the others to deserve a market check in the lead-up.

Best Roughie: Brucejack – Tramore, 16:20

Brucejack finished fifth in a competitive novice handicap chase at Navan on March 23th, though he showed up better to land the runners-up gong at Thurles before that and on that form, he should be a contender today.

The addition of Paul Townend to the saddle could be a significant change for the 7-year-old and running off a competitive mark, he could be worth taking on betting apps.

Gordon Elliott’s C’Est Quelqu’un is another eye-catching entry at a meaty price. He was a C&D winner last August and has a previous win at Tramore to look back on.

Willywampus meanwhile, could also be firmly in the mix. The prominent racer won two chases last year, including one at Tramore and though he hasn’t been seen since December, he could return with a bang.

Stats and Insights

  • The jumps course at Musselburgh has sharp turns to manoeuvre around and that can make it tricky to build up a head of steam, especially for gallopers. Trainers Paul Nicholls and Lucinda Russell have had decent success at Musselburgh so far this season.
  • There is a testing incline to finish the circuit at the Curragh and that can favour runners with extra staying power. Renowned trainer AP O’Brien has an unparalleled record at the Curragh and he has multiple entries across today’s race card at the course.
  • Tramore is known for being a tricky course to get around and the flag starts can catch inexperienced horses out from time to time. Gordon Elliott, WP Mullins and Henry De Bromhead have all tasted success at Tramore in Waterford this term, so look out for horses trained by anyone from that trio.
