Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 21/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Wednesday’s racing schedule is filled with events from the UK and Ireland at Doncaster, Kempton, Ludlow and Punchestown, giving punters plenty of scope for picking out horses with potential. Yesterday, our hot streak continued when Into The Park won at Taunton, and below, you can pick your way through our latest set of horse racing betting tips.

Best Tip #1: Snowing Evening – Doncaster 2.05

Snowing Evening delivered the goods on two of his last three starts and though he has been hit with a 6lb rise by the handicappers, he should be difficult to stop at Doncaster.

The 7-year-old has won three of his last four chases overall and remains unbeaten at this track. Suited by the trip, Snowy Evening is taken to maintain his momentum.

A challenge could be posed by Fete Champetre however, who won off a reduced mark to win at Musselburgh in December. A 5lb increase today is noteworthy, however, if he handles the soft ground at Doncaster, he should compete.

Elsewhere, Jazz King has been making waves on other betting sites for horse racing. He hasn’t raced in nearly a year; however, he is still unexposed having on his chase debut at Ludlow in March 2023.

Best Tip #2:  Los Toldos – Kempton 5.30

Los Toldos caught the eye in an encouraging debut at Wolverhampton earlier in the month when finishing second with plenty left in the tank, and he can use that effort as a platform to go one better at Kempton today.

The Frankel colt, who is one of several talents to emerge from Charlie Appelby’s stables, drops back in grade at Kempton and should be a major threat over the 1m 3f distance.

Monterosa meanwhile, set a high bar when landing in second spot in a tough handicap at Newmarket in October and if she can carry that kind of form into today’s run, she will be an obvious contender.

Encomiare won at Southwell in January, but failed to impress at Kempton before that (7th). A 7lb increase could put the 3-year-old under too much pressure today, however, and it might be wise to steer clear of Encomiare on betting apps.

Best Roughie: Getaway Master – Punchestown 4.25

Getaway Master is lurking with intent just behind the favourites in the markets for the 4.25 Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown and the 7-year-old is favoured to get in amongst it in Kildare.

Trained by Ricard Daniels, Getaway Master ran solidly in three successive races at Galway at the back end of last year and he could be ready to step up on his first outing of 2024.

Silent Flight has been earning the most attention in the build-up however, and for good reason. The 8-year-old won on heavy ground at Punchestown as recently as January 29th and returning to the same surface and distance today, his chances look solid again despite an 8lb increase.

7-year-old mare Balum could also go close having finished third being Silent Flight in that same late January hurdle handicap.

Stats and Insights

  • Doncaster runs around a left-handed pear-shaped track and tends to suit the gallopers. Undulations are gentle on this fair circuit, so hard luck stories are pretty rare. Trainers Richard Fahey and Alan King have had plenty of success at Doncaster over the past five seasons, so look out for horses from their stables.
  • Kempton is flat and fair, which can suit the speedier horses, so look for the sprinters here. There is less of an emphasis on stamina and there is little in the way of draw bias to factor in. The track is a right-handed pursuit over a mile and five furlongs.
  • Punchestown is also one of the fairer tracks in the UK and Ireland with easy undulations to tackle for runners. The track is a mile and six furlongs for hurdles and two miles for chase events and there are no particular standout attributes to keep an eye out for when picking your selections.
