Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 20/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Tuesday’s race card line up is a busy one and features meetings at Brighton, Kempton, Nottingham, Wolverhampton and Roscommon across the UK and Ireland.

Yesterday, our red-hot tipping form continued when we landed another winner (One Of Our Own at Catterick), while we hit the post with the second of our three selections when Paddy De Pole finished second at Worcester. Check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Sugar Club – Roscommon, 18:20

Promising 2-year-old filly made a promising debut back in June when finishing third over 7f at Leopardstown and followed that up in decent style with a comfortable triumph at Bellewstown over a longer 1m trip in early July.

She steps up in grade to test herself today but with the experience of Colin Keane in the saddle, she should be a contender.

Miss J Harrington’s Barnavara meanwhile, is expected to be the biggest threat and is currently the ante-post favourite to prevail on horse racing betting sites.

She’s already won twice this summer and though she gives weight to everyone else today, she has the mettle to put herself in the mix again.

Best Tip #2: Brasil Power – Kempton, 16:45

Brasil Power is a Kempton regular and his comfort at this track could set him up for success in the penultimate race of today’s meeting. The 5-year-old won at Kempton over 7f just six days ago to clock his third triumph over C&D.

He has a 5lb increase to bear on his return, however, Tommie Jakes has a 5lb claimer with him, which should allow Brasil Power to mount another bold bid.

Elsewhere, Society Lion could be another interesting entrant to track. The 7-year-old brings plenty of experience to proceedings and was a winner in successive races at Yarmouth and Doncaster earlier in the summer.

Society Lion tends to go well on AW and could have good each-way credentials here.

Best Roughie: River Wharfe – Brighton, 16:30

River Wharfe is on familiar territory at Brighton and has pushed to victory three times over 7f at the circuit before. The 6-year-old won here as recently as August 8th in a Class 6 event and though his mark is back in the mid-50s today, his track form makes him docket worthy.

River Wharfe is taken to be thereabouts again off an attractive starting price on betting apps.

Trainer John O’Shea has two interesting contenders on the list for today’s race in Romanovich and Letter Of The Law. The former won over 1m at Brighton earlier this month and could pose another threat over today’s shorter trip.

Letter Of The Law meanwhile, has finished first and second at Brighton already this month and holds serious claims again.

Stats and Insights

  • The circuit at Roscommon has some sharp bends to navigate and a slight incline finish towards the winning post. Jockeys Colin Keane, Gary Carroll, Shane Foley and Ben Coen have all had success at Roscommon before and all four are riding at today’s meeting at least three times.
  • There is a slight draw bias to consider at Kempton over shorter distances due to the narrow nature of the track. Trainers Andrew Balding, Charlie Appleby, Roger Varian, Richard Hannon and John & Thady Gosden are generally the names to follow on race days at Kempton.
  • There are undulations to conquer and tight bends to get around at Brighton and the layout of the track tends to suit more agile types. Trainer Tony Carroll posted an unmatched 50 wins at Brighton over the last five flat seasons.
