Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 20/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

The new week begins with an exciting race card line up on Monday featuring meetings at Carlisle, Newton Abbot, Redcar, Windsor and Roscommon across the UK and Ireland. Ahead of the on-track-mayhem, we’ve been doing some deep analysis in an attempt to locate some potential profit. Check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Kisiyra – Roscommon, 18:50

The JTW Distribution Roscommon Maiden at Roscommon has an open look today though Kisiyra could be the one to back in what could be a tight race.

Johnny Murtagh’s charge finished the previous season in solid form and returned after a lengthy break last month to compete well over a shorter trip (4th). That effort should bring her on today and open to progress, Kisiyra should be thereabouts.

Elsewhere, Slaney Swagger could be worth a market check on horse racing betting sites. The 3-year-old has been shaping up well since returning to action in March and runs to 2nd and 3rd in his last two tests at Leopardstown and Cork were particularly noteworthy.

Gavin Cromwell’s Total Look finished 1/2 a length behind the winner at Gowran Park when last seen on April 23rd and could also come into contention.

Best Tip #2: Sacred Falls – Carlisle, 19:30

Sacred Falls came very close to winning at Hamilton on Friday in a similar race over a slightly shorter distance and she could go one better at Carlisle today. The 4-year-old will be wearing cheekpieces for the first time and that could make the difference, providing she finds the headgear comfortable.

A competitive mark also gives us plenty to work with and Sacred Falls could deliver for Katie Scott.

Crypto Quest meanwhile, has yet to score for his current stable, however, he finished second in each of his last two outings over 6f and could enjoy today’s trip.

A 1lb increase after his last push at Catterick shouldn’t have much of an impact and Crypto Quest has strong credentials here.

Best Roughie: Carp Kid – Windsor, 19:40

Carp Kid was in excellent form last summer in handicap races, claiming wins at Chepstow and at Windsor back in July and returning to one of the scenes of his success, he can threaten off a big starting price today.

Conditions look suitable for the 9-year-old who returned from a layoff to finish second at Bath a fortnight ago. That finish was achieved off a price of 40/1 and further strides look possible here.

Lexington Knight is expected to be a chief protagonist and could be worth pricing on sports betting apps closer to start time.

He has landed in third spot in each of his last three outings and a repeat performance here should put him in the frame for an each-way finish at the very least. Crowso Cymraeg is another entry with each-way possibilities.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Roscommon has tight bends to navigate and a slight incline finish to conquer, though the course is generally fair and open to most types. Trainer JP O’Brien is always worth tracking during flat racing events, while Henry De Bromhead has enjoyed plenty of success in jumps races at Roscommon over the last five years.
  • The course at Carlisle can be characterised as pear shaped and with a lengthy uphill rise to gallop up before the post, horses with stamina can excel. Jockeys Paul Mulrennan and Callum Rodriguez are in the saddle at Carlisle today and both have enjoyed double-figure wins at the track over the last five years.
  • Windsor offers a fair and flat setting for the most part, though the bends there are tight and can favour nimble types. Trainer Richard Hannon has posted 30 wins there over the last half a decade, though William Haggas has had a stronger win rate (27%) over the same period.
