Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 20/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Tuesday’s racing card lineup features potentially profitable runs at Market Rasen, Newcastle and Taunton, where we hope our selections can make light of some heavy conditions to deliver more winners. Indeed, we landed yet another winner when Cracking Gold romped home at Linfield yesterday, and below, we’ve assembled another set of prime horse racing betting tips for your punting pleasure.

Best Tip #1: Into The Park – Taunton 3.40

Into The Park impressed en route to victory when opening his account in a Newbury maiden last month and the handicappers may have underestimated him with an opening mark of 120 on his debut at Taunton.

The 5-year-old, who has been lightly raced so far, showed promise to land third spot at the same circuit in a Class 4 race on January 8th and he is taken to excel a grade further up today.

Some of the other best horse racing betting sites out there have picked out Inca De Lafayette as their runner to back.

The 6-year-old won at Taunton as recently as early January over a similar trip and has also previously enjoyed success in a French bumper on heavy ground. Conditions should be the same today, so expect Inca De Lafayette to be there or thereabouts.

Best Tip #2:  Cokytho – Market Rasen 4.30

Former French racer Cokytho should be a player at Market Rasen having warmed up around that circuit with moderate success in his last two runs. A fourth-place finish in December was improved upon with a runner-up spot last month and he is taken to go one better on his third try.

The experienced chaser, who is trained by Alex Hales, stumbled late last time out, though a first maiden victory could be in the offing if he stays nimble.

Elsewhere, Onenightintown caught the eye when winning a Class 5 Chase Handicap at Catterick on February 2nd and a slight 2lb increase today shouldn’t slow him down much.

The 10-year-old hasn’t raced at Market Rasen since finishing fifth there last summer, though recent form suggests an improvement is possible this time around. Ben Pauling’s Casa Tall, who drops down a grade, could also be in the mix.

Best Roughie: Pop Favorite – Newcastle 5.30

Pop Favorite is one of several runners in the 5.30 with previous experience at Newcastle and the 6-year-old should be a comfortable performer there on what will be his fifth trip in a row in the north east.

Pallas Lord is odds-on favourite to win, however, Pop Favourite was well on top when beating him at Newcastle last month, and with 1lb taken off, he could upset the formbook overtake the same opponent here.

Price points on various sports betting apps have also thrown up Odd Socks Havana as an interesting option. The 6-year-old has three previous C&D wins and ran Pallas Lord close just ten days ago in a Class 6 Handicap over 1m.

Jems Bond ran just three days ago to finish third at Newcastle and if fatigue isn’t an issue, could also shake things up near the front.

Stats and Insights

  • Front runners tend to hold all the aces at Taunton due to the short nature of the track, so our selections will need to be near the front to deliver the goods for the most part. The final flourish is short and comes straight after the final bend, so late surges from the back are rare here.
  • In contrast, Market Rasen is more open to producing late drama. There is space on the final run-in to make up ground at the last. The right-handed oval track at Market Rasen suits speedier horses over the larger gallopers, so make sure to factor that into your thinking.
  • Newcastle can really test a horse’s stamina, particularly when the finishing post comes into view. There is an incline to conquer near the end of the track and the final uphill surge can ask runners to dip into their wells of stamina. Most horses will be well used to the left-handed turns at Newcastle.
