Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 19/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card line-up features a septet of meetings across the UK and Ireland at Ayr, Bath, Exeter, Fontwell, Newbury, Ballinrobe and Limerick, giving tipsters and punters alike a wide array of avenues to explore. Yesterday, our hot-streak continued when our three selections returned a placed horse and another winner when Golden Ace got to the post first at Cheltenham. You can view our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1: Notkeepinyagoing – Ballinrobe, 18:37

Notkeepinyagoing scored in style at Leopardstown in early March and has been lumbered with just a small rise since and the 7-year-old could take some stopping on her handicapping debut here.

Competition is likely to be stiffer today, though she looked the part on soft-to-heavy ground last time out and should be fine with both the trip and conditions at Ballinrobe.

Elsewhere, Gordon Elliott’s Ginnets Girls is another name for shortlists. Her price has been moving about a bit on horse racing betting sites, though she has been consistent enough over hurdles and fences to warrant attention.

Natural Look has also been a reliable mare since last Autumn, but will need a big effort to score ahead of the rest.

Best Tip #2: Johnny Blue – Exeter, 16:55

Johnny Blue let down backers and connections to finish 6th at Fontwell in January, though he is worth a second shot as favourite here in what looks like a very winnable second race at Exeter.

Trainer Nicky Henderson will expect a big improvement from his 5-year-old today and if conditions are suitable, Johnny Blue, who won at Worcester over a similar trip last year, should be able to raise his levels.

Opposition could be offered by Dan Skelton’s Dunbulcan Bay. The £72,000 buy comes from staying stock and looked ok when finishing fifth at Exeter in November. Progression can be expected from this talented 3-year-old, especially at this level.

Lost In The Mist is one of the more experienced candidates today and could be a solid each-way option at a bigger price.

Best Roughie: Dance Thief – Ayr, 13:20

Dance Thief’s record of just one win in seven attempts in points doesn’t inspire, however, a breakthrough triumph with jockey Ben Smith in the saddle was achieved at Ayr over C&D last month and with the Smith reunited with Dance Thief today, the 6-year-old could surprise a few at the same circuit.

Dance Thief moves up a grade and up in ranking (4lb), though there is still enough room to manoeuvre.

Paul Nicholls’s Jackpot D’athou has been garnering the most attention on sports betting apps, meanwhile. He has only raced once this year, but posted a victory on that outing at Taunton over 2m 3f. Lands in Ayr for his handicap debut today and has major credentials.

Thought should also be given to Phantomofthepoints, who has been shaping up like a possible improver ahead of his handicap bow.

Stats and Insights

  • Ballinrobe features an uphill straight before a swift downhill flourish and quicker horses can finish strongly there. Incredibly, jockey PW Mullins has a 100%-win rate at Ballinrobe this season after five races there. Trainer Willie Mullins has more wins (seven) at the track than anyone else this term.
  • The circuit at Exeter is large and there are plenty of undulations for our horses to get around. When conditions are poor there, it can put extra demands on a horse’s stamina. Jockeys Lorcan Williams and Jordan Nailor have enjoyed plenty of success at Exeter this season, so look out for both.
  • Ayr is a left-handed track with wide, sweeping bends and the make-up of the course can suit the speedier types. Trainer Lucina Russell has posted 14 wins at Ayr this season, though she has won with a relatively modest 20% of all her entries at the track overall.
