Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 19/03

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

We have meetings at Exeter, Wetherby and Wolverhampton to fill up our race card today and we’ve been rifling through the formbooks and statistics to bring you another prime selection of horse racing betting tips for Tuesday’s action. Yesterday, our three picks delivered two placed runners and a 5/1 winner when Real Force upset the odds at the Curragh. Let’s hope for more of the same today.

Best Tip #1: Raffle Ticket – Exeter 3.00

Raffle Ticket looked the part when winning at Doncaster on his last outing and with jockey Harry Cobden back in the saddle again today, a follow-up success could be on the cards at Doncaster.

The 10-year-old only moves up ever so slightly in trip at Exter, while a 4lb rise shouldn’t impact his chances too much. Still unexposed for his age, Raffle Ticket is taken to prevail here.

Elsewhere, Stormy Flight is likely to be of interest on horse racing betting sides in the UK. He won on soft ground over C&D at Exter in December, so should come into the reckoning on his return to that track today in similar conditions.

Iconic Muddle is a third contender with decent claims and having posted finishes of 2-2-2 in his last three races, a first win could be around the corner.

Best Tip #2:  Raffles Wonder – Wetherby 2.45

Raffles Wonder won easily by 17l at Hexham on March 14th in a Class 5 Novice Hurdle Handicap and having got off the mark, he is taken to step up again.

There is a 7lb penalty to overcome, but the 7-year-old is absolutely the one to beat again. Raffles Wonder looks to have made the right decision to switch from hurdles to handicaps and progress could be maintained.

Lone Solder will expect to be in contention for trainer Dan Skelton. The 6-year-old has been inconsistent since the winter, though the drop in trip and first-time tongue-tie could make a difference today.

Haut Berry needs significant improvement to compete, however, he has been backed in from 40/1 to 20/1, which is something to note.

Best Roughie: Operate – Wolverhampton 5.30

Operate made a decent first step when finishing fourth on his career debut at Kempton last month from an opening price of 33/1 and having looked more than useful that day, he could run above market expectations again at Wolverhampton.

The 3-year-old, who is trained by Archie Watson, moves up a grade, though the extra challenge could suit and he could be worth a place at least.

Any upset will likely have to come at the expense of favourite Lady of Spain. She moved clear of her rivals to win on her C&D debut at Wolverhampton in December, rewarding punters who backed her at 9/1.

She has incurred a 5lb penalty after her success, however, she remains the one to beat. Approval meanwhile, has had some pull on sports betting apps, and could be worth tracking following a lengthy break.

Stats and Insights

  • Exeter is a two-mile circuit and has no shortage of undulations to get around. Conditions can be testing there at times, so look out for horses with plenty of stamina. Trainer Paul Nicholls has an excellent record there this season as does jockey Jordan Nailor.
  • Wetherby is considered a fair setting and few horses endure hard luck stories there. With long straights to enjoy, horses with a good long stride can excel. Trainers Jamie Snowden (50%) and Kerry Lee (60%) have good strike rates at Wetherby this season.
  • Wolverhampton is built on a Tapeta surface and has left-handed bends, which make it one of the more unusual circuits. Jockey Daniel Tudhope has won on eight of his 19 races at Wolverhampton this season while trainer Derek Shaw has the highest percentage of wins with 24%.
