Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 18/10

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card is a six-parter with meetings scheduled to take place across the UK and Ireland at Fakenham, Haydock, Newcastle, Redcar, Uttoxeter and Dundalk. It’s been a profitable week for us so far and we’re determined to maintain our streak with some more winning horse racing betting tips before the weekend. Check out our latest tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Psalm – Dundalk, 17:45

Pslam was a little unfortunate to finish second by a head behind the in-form Squire Danagher at Dundalk last time out having led from the front for much of the contest, though the 3-year-old has what it takes to bounce back at the same venue here.

A winner at Dundalk over C&D as recently as September 20th, Aiden O’Brien’s Pslam is only 1lb higher from his last outing and should have what it takes to launch another bold bid here.

Elsewhere, Apercu is another name with credentials on the best betting sites for horse racing.

A winner at Naas in August over 1m 2f, the 4-year-old did the business again at The Curragh in October in decent company over the same trip. With WJ Lee in the saddle today in a race that covers the same ground, Apercu has got to be in contention to triumph.

Best Tip #2: Alfa Whiteburd – Redcar, 13:52

Afa Whiteburd got off the mark at the 13th attempt when winning at Newcastle on September 24th over his favoured trip of 6f and with his duck broken, he followed up quickly to win at Southwell a grade up eight days ago.

He carries a 6lb penalty into today’s hattrick bid, though jockey William Pyle takes care of half of that with a claimer and Alfa Whiteburd could be the one to beat in the second race at Redcar.

Harry’s Halo meanwhile, is also likely to be involved in the shake up. He would over 6f at Windsor last month and has been in the frame in each of his last five races overall.

He will sport a visor for the first time today instead of his usual hood and it will be interesting to see if that has any bearing on his performance. Definitely one to watch.

Best Roughie: Yellow Dream – Newcastle, 18:00

David O’Meara has two runners in today’s Northumbria Leisure For Gaming Machines EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Newcastle, and though Yellow Dream is the less fancied of the two, there is plenty to like about her prospects.

The 40,000euros foal is half-sister to several winners including Rainbow Royal, Rose Mamarra and Nibras Rainbow and the 2-year-old has the pedigree to impress on her debut.

Storm Lady looks well positioned to strike for Richard Fahey, meanwhile. She has more experience than most today having enjoyed two outings in September and she was far from disgraced on each occasion last month, finishing third at Leicester and second at Haydock.

The AW surface shouldn’t be a problem today and Storm Lady could be worth a market check on betting apps later.

Stats and Insights

  • Dundalk is fair and flat due in large to the Polytrack surface there. Close finishes have been common there since the addition of a cutaway rail in 2013. Jockeys JP O’Brien, Adrian McGuinness, John C McConnell, Ger Lyons and M Halford are all names to watch out for at Dundalk.
  • There are few hard luck stories at the largely level Redcar course, so the favourite can often be worth sticking with in races there. Tim Easterby, David O’Meara and Michael Dodds have been the three most successful trainers at Redcar over the last five seasons.
  • The track at Newcastle is a course for the gallopers due to the wide nature of the run there and the straight mile section. Richard Fahey (76) has enjoyed more wins at Newcastle than any other trainer over the last five seasons with David O’Meara next in line with 54 wins over the same period.
