Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 18/09

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings at Beverley, Kelso, Sandown, Yarmouth and Tramore combine to fill up Wednesday’s race card and with plenty of on-the-track action to look forward to across the UK and Ireland, we’re confident of delivering more profit to our readers.

Yesterday, we landed yet another winning tip when Star Harbour triumphed at Punchestown, while another of our three picks (Saint Riquier) placed at Brighton. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Mater Matuta – Tramore, 15:45

Mater Matuta is something of a course specialist at Tramore and has three previous wins at the Waterford venue under her belt already.

Two of those victories have come since the summer and the 8-year-old’s strong course form is likely to make her a favourite on horse racing betting sites today. She is well treated again off a mark of 104 and it would be a surprise if she wasn’t firmly in the mix.

Ricky Langford meanwhile, is shaping up like another possible contender. PJ Rothwell’s charge was unseated on his last visit to Tramore in August; however, he bounced back well to win at Downpatrick within ten days to lodge his seventh win in the sphere.

The 10-year-old has the experience and the credentials to make a mark in Waterford this time around.

Best Tip #2: Glory Hyde – Beverley, 16:18

Glory Hyde is a prominent type who has good course form at Beverley, making her a prime contender to win at the same venue in what should be a competitive Handicap Flat race.

In two C&D efforts so far, the 3-year-old improver finished first and second, with both of those outings coming over a trip of 5f. A 1lb rise in the ratings today isn’t significant and another bold bid could be launched.

Elsewhere, David O’Meara’s Alligator Alley looks like another name for shortlists.

The 7-year-old opened his account for 2024 with a win over 5f at Thirsk on August 3rd and though he has struggled to follow that up, some promise was shown in a couple of bursts at Goodwood in the lead up to today and the positive thinker could be in the frame if the going suits today.

Best Roughie: Miaswell – Sandown, 16:25

David O’Meara has another interesting runner at Sandown today in the penultimate race at the venue. Miaswell, who is available to back at a big price on the best betting apps, was a winner on his handicap debut at Haydock in May and returned to win at the same circuit in July.

He should be able to stay the distance today and looks like a fine each-way prospect here.

High Point finished in a disappointing 6th place at Kempton when last seen two weeks ago, though Eve Johnson Houghton’s 3-year-old won on back-to-back outings at Newmarket and Windsor before that – and although those victories were around a year ago, High Point could have something to offer of that form can be recaptured.

Stats and Insights

  • Tramore is a tricky setting to navigate with sharp turns, wild undulations and flag starts causing mayhem there. Jockeys Paul Townend, Darragh O’Keefe, Rachael Blackmore, Danny Mullins and Jack Kennedy are usually the names to watch out for at Tramore.
  • There is a draw bias to consider at Beverley in the direction of lower drawn numbers as it can be tough to make up ground from out wide. Trainers Tim Easterby, Richard Fahey, Michael & David Easterby, David O’Meara and Mark Johnston have all enjoyed plenty of success at Beverley before.
  • Sandown is a flat setting that tends to suit the gallopers and horses with extra staying power can often succeed in Esher. For flat races, Charlie Appleby, William Haggas, John & Thady Gosden, Andrew Balding and Ralph Beckett are names to watch out for at Sandown.
