Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 18/06

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are five meetings across the UK on Tuesday’s race card line up at Ascot, Beverley, Brighton, Catterick and Stratford, giving us plenty of room to manoeuvre in our latest hunt for profit. We’re ready to get stuck into another day of racing and you can check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Notable Speech – Royal Ascot, 16:25

The St James’s Palace Stakes is shaping up to be a hotly contested race at Ascot today, but preference is still given to Charlie Appleby’s unbeaten charge, Notable Speech.

The formidable force, who has solid claims as the best 3-year-old in the business blitzed the field at the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket when last seen where he saw off today’s main rival Rosallion. A similar outcome could be in the works here.

Elsewhere, Almaqam is another eye-catcher, albeit at a much bigger price. He’s been making promising strides this year and followed up a good win at Yarmouth in April with another at Sandown a month later.

Metropolitan is the French Guineas winner and could have something to offer on today’s outing on British soil.

Best Tip #2: Cloudy Rose – Brighton, 20:00

Cloudy Rose finished second in a Class 6 Handicap race at Beverley on May 29th, however, she was denied room to race on that occasion and her win at Brighton just before that is perhaps a better barometer ahead of today’s return to the same track.

John Berry’s 6-year-old is up just 1lb in the ratings after her recent 1-2 punch and her credentials look very strong again here.

The Conqueror has been turning some heads on horse racing betting sites in the UK, meanwhile. He went very close at Windsor last time out and as a previous winning at Brighton over 1m 2f, he could be in the frame again.

Largo Bay, who won this renewal off a 6lb higher mark in 2022, is another possible contender.

Best Roughie: Catalyse – Royal Ascot, 15:05

We return to Ascot for our third pick and we like the look of Catalyse in the Coventry Stakes in the second race of the day. The £300,000 breeze-up buy for RA Fahey sparkled on his debut at Hamilton and won with plenty of room to spare and he could deliver for his backers again today.

Interestingly, jockey James Double picked Catalyse from three stable options in today’s run and that feels significant.

Cowardofthecounty is the ante-post market leader on betting apps, meanwhile. The 100,000gns yearling won on his maiden bow on April 21st at The Curragh and though he hasn’t been seen since, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he picked up where he left off.

Camille Pissarro represents a yard that’s won this race on numerous occasions, so he should also factor into your thinking.

Stats and Insights

  • Course form is usually a major factor at Royal Ascot, so look out for contenders who have enjoyed success there before. Trainers William Haggas, Andrew Balding, John & Thady Gosden, Charlie Appleby and Roger Varian are always worth looking out for at Ascot.
  • The track at Brighton is laid out in the shape of a truncated U and there are undulations to get around and stiff corners to tackle there. Jockeys Marco Ghiani and Darragh Keenan, who have 19 wins each at Brighton since 2019, are both in action at today’s meeting.
  • River Tiber won last year’s Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot for AP O’Brien. The last four winners of the renewal have all come from different stables. The market favourite has won only one of the last four iterations of the race.
