The weekend closes with a quartet of race cards at Kempton, Musselburgh, Southwell and Punchestown on Sunday, and with over 30 trips to analyse across four events in the UK and Ireland, the window of opportunity has been blown wide open. Below, we’ve laid out another three-part set of horse racing betting tips ahead of the day’s action.
Best Tip #1: Just A Spark – Kempton 7.30
Just A Spark has looked the part on AW in recent runs and with only a 2lb increase to bear following her win at Wolverhampton on January 26th, she is taken to complete a hattrick of successive victories here.
Both of Just A Spark’s back-to-back triumphs came over 6f at Wolverhampton, though her last first came in a Class 3 Handicap and she could look a cut above when dropping back in grade today.
If you’re looking for an alternative option on sports betting apps, Crimson Sand might appeal at a slightly bigger price. The 6-year-old moved up from the rear to win a Class 5 Handicap over 5f at Chelmsford on February 1st and the handy sprinter could threaten again.
Al Farabi has been priced as favourite to win this one, though, apply caution there for the first-time sprinter.

Best Tip #2: Noche Negra – Southwell 2.25
Noche Negra is brother to potent 2m chaser Nube Negra and he roared to victory to win at Catterick last time out. It looked like there was extra potential to unlock in that victory and Laura Morgan’s steed should be able to mount a stiff challenge again over a similar distance despite the 8lb increase incurred.
Noche Negra showed superb stamina to finish strongly at Catterick and that extra oomph should be handy over a slightly longer trip.
Out On The Tear meanwhile, has been doing plenty of work at Class 4 level and must be a contender dropping down in grade today. A second at Sedgefield in late January was achieved over 2m 3f and the distance at Southwell should suit again.
Royal Mer has won two of his five chases and seems comfortable at this distance, making him another viable candidate in the 2.25.

Best Roughie: Where It All Began – Punchestown 2.35
Where It All Began has a record of 0-7 over hurdles, however, don’t let that return dissuade you too much. The 8-year-old has been displaying promise of late, finishing third and second over 2m 6f and 3m at Punchestown and Fairyhouse respectively in his last two outings.
Trainer Gordon Elliott has an excellent record in this race and Where It All Began could be primed for improvement over a longer trip.
Willy Mullins’ We’llhavewan will be the obvious contender and has had his price backed in on plenty of betting sites for horse racing already.
He won his fifth race over fences by 7l at Navan in early December in what was a welcome return to form having run unimpressively at Cheltenham before that. Champagne Platinum, who won at Gowran Park last month, has also seen his odds slashed over the weekend.

Stats and Insights
- Kempton ranks among the flattest courses in the UK and while sprinters can enjoy the level surface there, the circuit doesn’t demand huge amounts of stamina. Running for a mile and five furlongs around a right-handed track, there is little in the way of draw bias to factor in here. As fair as they come.
- Southwell is a left-handed oval track that covers around a mile in length. This is another run for the sprinters due to the largely flat surface and snug sides. Dan Skelton’s horses are often worth a look at Southwell due to the trainer’s excellent record there.
- Punchestown is fair enough for most with gentle undulations around both the hurdle and chase tracks. There aren’t really any specific attributes to look for here in terms of selecting horses, and that gives most races there a nice, open feel in the betting markets.
