Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 17/06

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Monday’s race card line up features meetings at Carlisle, Chepstow, Windsor, Gowran Park and Kilbeggan across the UK and Ireland, offering punters a decent shot of starting the week with a profitable bang. Yesterday, two of our three selections placed while the remaining tip secured another win thanks to Talk In The Park’s success at Downpatrick. Check out today’s top horse racing predictions below.

Best Tip #1:  Whatcouldhavbeen – Gowran Park, 17:05

Smart hurdler Whatcouldhavebeen has been competing well since the turn of the year and she wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth at the Punchestown Festival behind Teahupoo in a Grade 1 race when last seen in early May.

She managed to win at Fairyhouse before that over a longer trip than today, though a reimagining of that kind of form would put her thereabouts today.

Believe In Science meanwhile, has enjoyed some backing on the best betting sites for horse racing. The 5-year-old, who competes off a favourable mark, has been waiting to score and he looked solid enough on his first taste of action at Dundalk to finish fourth after a lengthy spell out.

Sceptred Isle, who won over a similar distance at Tipperary in May, could be another name for shortlists.

Best Tip #2: Lucky Zebo – Kilbeggan, 19:45

Henry De Bromhead’s Luck Zebo has claimed first place in four of his last six efforts over hurdles and that haul of victories included an impressive triumph at Cork in a Listed handicap race on March 31st.

Still relatively unexposed over fences, the talented 7-year-old could be the one to back here. He showed up well in a high-calibre race at Punchestown (7th) last time out and is reliable enough to cope with a tricky mark today.

Elsewhere, Gaelic Arc has been showing promise since returning to the track from a 16-month absence and seems to have decent credentials. Both of his previous wins were achieved over 2m, so today’s distance should suit.

He finished 2-3-3 in his first three races of 2024 and is consistent enough to be in the frame again. The Dasher Conway, who won at Kilbeggan in May, could also be one to follow.

Best Roughie: Glamorous Express – Chepstow, 15:48

Glamorous Express is the contender with the biggest price in today’s fourth race at Chepstow, however, the 5-year-old has what it takes to make a good impression.

A dual AW winner back in March, he shaped up well and finished strongly to claim third spot at Kempton when last seen and though he has it all to prove over this trip, there is obvious potential to unleash.

On Edge has been doing most of the early running on the best betting apps, meanwhile. His win at Windsor last week pushed his record to 6-18 on turf and he warrants respect again here, especially with On Edge moving back up to a more comfortable distance.

Connie’s Rose, who won at Chepstow on May 31st, is in career-best form and should also be in the mix.

Stats and Insights

  • Stamina is the watchword at Gowran Park due to the galloping nature of the circuit. Jockeys Colin Keane, Ben Coen, Shane Foley and WJ Lee have all enjoyed plenty of success at Gowran Park since 2019 and all four will be competing in today’s meeting.
  • Kilbeggan combines tricky jumps, warping undulations and sharp bends to make life tough for horses.  Trainers Willie Mullins, Henry De Bromhead and Gordon Elliott have been the dominant trio at Kilbeggan over the last five years.
  • Galloping horses can find the going tough at Chepstow due to the pronounced undulations at the Welsh track. Jockeys Hollie Doyle and Gina Mangan, who are both in action today, have tasted victory on numerous occasions in Wales over the last five years.
