Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 16/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Saturday’s race card is a typically busy edition with meetings to look forward to across the UK and Ireland at Cheltenham, Newcastle, Uttoxeter, Wetherby, Wolverhampton and Navan.

Ahead of the action, we’ve been poring over formbooks and markets to find the best horses to back. View our latest horse racing betting tips for the day’s events below.

Best Tip #1: Found A Fifty – Navan, 14:33

Gordon Elliott’s Found A Fifty was a top performer over 2m last season and counted wins at Leopardstown and Aintree in Listed races among his impressive bounty.

The 7-year-old picked straight up where he left off 14 days ago when powering to victory in a Grade 2 Chase at Down Royal and he should be just as potent over today’s slightly shorter trip. Jack Kennedy is in the saddle too, which only adds to Found a Fifty’s appeal.

JP O’Brien’s Banbridge will arrive ready to compete meanwhile, and could offer a good alternative on the best horse racing betting sites.

The 8-year-old was a winner at Punchestown when last seen in April and that was one of three victories inside four races in a run stretching back to April 2023. Lightly-raced of late, Banbridge should be a force with Paul Townend involved.

Best Tip #2: Pay The Piper – Wetherby, 13:35

Pay The Piper has been a consistent sort for an extended spell for Mrs A Hamilton and the 9-year-old could be the one to back in the day’s fourth race at Wetherby.

A winner at Kelso in two of his last three outings, Pay The Piper also impressed when finishing second at Wetherby in between and moving up in trip today shouldn’t be too much of an issue for this in-form charge.

Elsewhere, Ben Pauling’s Densworth has solid-looking credentials. While his record is mixed, he does have wins at Doncaster and Southwell under his belt inside his last five efforts.

Densworth tends to blow hot and cold, though jockey Callum Pritchard adds a 10lb claimer here which could be significant and a big run looks possible.

Best Roughie: Irisante – Cheltenham, 12:35

Irisante is 0-3 on flat and 0-4 over hurdles, however, she has been in the frame in two of her last three outings in France and could be poised to surprise a few at a big price on sites that have the best betting offers in the day’s opening race at Cheltenham.

DJ Jeffreys paid €80,000 to land this 3-year-old in May, which suggests she has something about her and Irisante could be an each-way prospect to consider, especially if markets move.

My Noble Lord meanwhile, is expected to be among the front runners at a tighter starting price. The 3-year-old signed off in the spring with a hattrick of wins and returned with a bang to claim the spoils at Chepstow on October 12th in a Class 4 Hurdle over 2m.

Today’s trip is similar and though the company is classier, My Noble Lord has the talent to mix it.

Stats and Insights

  • There is a stiff three-and-a-half-furlong finish to cap the run at Navan and with conditions often testing there too, stamina can be a useful attribute to possess. Look out for jockeys Jack Kennedy, Mark Walsh, Rachael Blackmore, Paul Townend and Davy Russell here.
  • Wetherby is a fair setting in the main with few hard luck stories shared there. The long straights tend to favour horses with longer strides. It’s useful to look out for horses trained by Dan Skelton and Olly Murphy at Wetherby.
  • The new course at Cheltenham can ask questions of a horse’s stamina as well as a charge’s jumping quality, with just two hurdles to leap over in the final seven furlongs at the course. Big-name trainers Willie Mullins, Nicky Henderson, Dan Skelton, Henry De Bromhead and Paul Nicholls all have good records here.
