Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 16/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card line-up features events across the UK and Ireland at Fakenham, Kelso, Wolverhampton and Dundalk, giving punters plenty of scope to find runners with potential. Yesterday, our three tips delivered one winner and one placed horse, leaving us nicely in profit once again. Below, we’ve presented our latest horse racing betting tips for today’s listings. Enjoy!

Best Tip #1: Westerninthepark – Fakenham 2.40

Westerninthepark is a previous bumper winner who enjoyed success over hurdles in a Plumpton maiden last month over 2m 4f. There is a 7lb increase to factor in for the favourite today, however, the trip should suit and a follow up victory should be available for the Anthony Charlton-trained 6-year-old.

The obvious danger from the small field comes in the form of West Warhorse, who carries Eddie Edge. He pulled up at Plumpton in his last outing, however, he delivered a win at Fakenham before that over the same distance and could go again on his return.

Some other horse racing betting sites have been leaning on Patriotik, who could improve, however, preference is for Westerninthepark here.

Best Tip #2:  Back Tomorrow – Wolverhampton 4.10

Back Tomorrow has been hitting the heights since switching to all-weather events and she is still less exposed than her competitors at Wolverhampton, where a win looks with reach.

The 4-year-old arguably produced a career-best run to win at Southwell on January 30th and that was her second win in three races, with her other finish a second place at Kempton. Back Tomorrow is taken to maintain her excellent form in this one.

Elsewhere, Glamorous Express could be one to track on his step up in trip.  The 5-year-old arrived late to win a 6f handicap at Lingfield in November and he should move well with an extra furlong to fill today.

Ballysax Lil’ Mick is another who shouldn’t be discounted. Miss K Brown’s horse ran well at Dundalk in October and could ruffle feathers again.

Best Roughie: Livingston Range – Dundalk 3.47

Livingston Range could be an option to consider with an outwardly-moving price in what looks like an open handicap at Dundalk. The 6-year-old has plenty of experience at the track having run there in three of his last four outings.

The gelding led for a lengthy period at Dundalk over 6f before falling back to third late on at Dundalk at the end of January and Livingston Range, who has dropped a 1lb, is rapid enough to stay up over a shorter trip.

Samrogue is the pick of the rest. She arrives in top form having won twice at Dundalk since November and she could defy a 5lb increase to secure a fifth C&D victory. Oisin McSweeney will take the saddle again, which should solidify Samrogue’s chances.

Billboa has also been attracting onlookers on betting apps in the UK having won a Maiden at Dundalk in early December and the 4-year-old should have the requisite speed to excel on his surface.

Stats and Insights

  • Fakenham is almost square in shape and with sharp bends to overcome, speedy horses can often have the edge. Indeed, the track at Fakenham is so quick that fast starters can be difficult to catch. Look for pace when lining up selections here.
  • Dundalk is nicely flat and is considered one of the fairer tracks in Ireland with hard luck stories few and far between. Low draws can enjoy an advantage around the first early bend. Dundalk employs a Polytrack surface and experience on the ground can count big.
  • Wolverhampton has left-handed bends to arc around which can sometimes confuse the issue for runners without experience there, so look for horses that have been there before. The track is built on a Tapeta surface and is nicely level throughout.
