Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 15/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Thursday’s race card line up is another bumper edition with meetings to dissect at Beverley, Chelmsford, Chepstow, Salisbury, Windsor, Dundalk and Tramore across the UK and Ireland on an action-packed day of racing. As per the usual routine, we’ve presented three horse racing betting tips from Thursday’s races and you can read them below.

Best Tip #1:  Little Queenie – Dundalk, 14:15

Little Queenie has been in career-best form this summer and while she was unlucky to land third in a three-way photo finish at The Curragh when last seen five days ago, she managed to score at Dundalk before that over 5f.

That was her second triumph at the track and she has to be in the frame for PW Flynn off an unchanged mark today. The slight upping in trip shouldn’t be an issue for this talented 5-year-old.

Elsewhere, Dontspoilasale could be another name to consider on horse racing betting sites. He finished second behind Little Queenie at Dundalk last month, but was only beaten by a neck on that occasion. He’s due to drop 3lb in the ratings soon, though an each-way finish looks a strong possibility here before that.

Final Voyage, who has seven wins over 7f/9f, completes the trio of best contenders.

Best Tip #2: Pfingstberg – Beverley, 16:20

David Simock’s Pfingstberg was a comfortable winner at Nottingham over 2m on August 1st and even eased back before the post to win by just over 4l.

Runs to 1st at Lingfield, 2nd at Newmarket and 3rd at Wolverhampton before that impressed for this progressive type and he should make light of a 6lb rise to compete at the front again over this slightly longer distance at Beverley (2m 32y).

Wannabeawallaby could also get a look in for Dylan Cunha. He has yet to score, however, he has been knocking on the door of late and finished second in each of his last three efforts.

The 3-year-old finished behind Pfingstberg at Nottingham on the first of the month and he will hope to get closer to his rival on better terms today.

Best Roughie: Pahlavi – Tramore, 18:50

Pahlavi has been a solid performer in maiden hurdles over the summer without bringing back a win for JJ Hanlon, though he is of definite interest in what should be a competitive but open handicap race at Tramore.

The 7-year-old has a record of 2-2-3 before hitting 8th on his handicap hurdle bow at Galway, though that experience could bring him on and he’s likely to be a more dangerous prospect on today’s quicker ground.

Henry De Bromhead’s Red Glory has been hitting plenty of high notes this summer and is already listed among the favourites on betting apps for today’s clash.

He was held into second place at Tipperary (May) and Downpatrick (June) before finally scoring at Killarney (July) and with Rachael Blackmore in the saddle, he should be thereabouts again at Tramore of his revised mark of 111.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Dundalk offers a fair setting to most types and the circuit has a knack for producing close finishes. JP O’Brien, Adrian McGuinness, John C McConnell, Ger Lyons and Michael Halford are the trainers to watch out for at Dundalk.
  • There is a considerable bias in the direction of lower drawn numbers at Beverley as it can be tough to make up ground from wide positions there. Trainers Tim Easterby, Richard Fahey, Michael & David Easterby, David O’Meara and Mark Johnston have all enjoyed plenty of success at Beverley over the past five flat seasons.
  • Tramore can be a very tricky setting due to the unusual flag starts and potent mix of uphill and downhill sections on the track. Jockeys Darragh O’Keeffe, Paul Townend, Rachael Blackmore and Danny Mullins are all in action at today’s meeting and all four know what it takes to win in Waterford.
