Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 15/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

A new week begins with an action-packed race card across the UK and Ireland on Monday with meetings to look forward to at Ayr, Newton Abbot, Windsor, Wolverhampton, Downpatrick and Killarney before close of business.

Yesterday, our selection of three tips delivered two winners thanks to Tonto Foley’s triumph at Perth (10/3) and Battle of Omdurman’s victory at Stratford (8/1), while Finest View placed in second at the same track. With a hot streak to maintain, we’ve laid out our latest horse racing betting tips for Monday’s meetings below.

Best Tip #1:  Rauzan – Downpatrick, 17:00

Eoin Doyle’s gelding Rauzan is chasing a hattrick today and the progressive 4-year-old has the credentials to deliver the goods again. Rauzan tasted victory over this trip at Tramore in May and looked even sharper over a slightly shorter distance at Downpatrick a month later.

With his form starting to spike, he has to come into serious contention on his return to the same track.

Littlebiggie meanwhile, has been backed to offer stiff competition on various other betting sites for horse racing.

A keen runner on good ground, the strong stayer has a record of 2-3-1-2 from four races in 2024 and steady improvement in his efforts have been evident. The 7-year-old has the potential to be right in the mix again here.

Best Tip #2: Mezzo Soprano – Windsor, 19:20

Mezzo Soprano may have lost her unbeaten record on her first outing as a 4-year-old at Thirsk last month, though her effort on that occasion wasn’t without merit and she is reliable enough to bounce back at the first time of asking at Windsor today.

The quicker pace over a shorter 6f 12y should suit her willing character and the forecast rain shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Simon & Ed Crisford’s filly.

The biggest challenge to Mezzo Soprano could be offered by Havana Pusey. The lightly-raced charge enjoyed a win at Windsor over C&D on June 29th over the same distance and though she has climbed 7lb in the ratings since, there is every reason to be positive about her chances.

Tiger Bay, who has been knocking on the door since returning to the scene in April, completes the trio of likely players.

Best Roughie: Independent Expert – Killarney, 18:55

Independent Expert is loitering with intent at an attractive price on betting apps for what is shaping up to be a competitive Torc Mountain Handicap race at Killarney this evening.

The 5-year-old scored at Cork over 7f on his first appearance of the year in March and went very close to winning again at Gowran Park in May over a longer distance. Running off the same mark today, he could have enough mettle to ruffle some feathers again.

Ger Lyons’s Perfect Poise is another name for shortlists. The consistent sort was a runner up in three of his last five races and though he failed to shine when last seen at Gowran Park (6th) in May, he is likely to put on a better show today.

Dual British AW winner Shigar is a hooded danger for William Durkan and should also be thereabouts.

Stats and Insights

  • With sharp bends and rambling undulations to conquer, it’s usually best to avoid backing horses with the longer strides at Downpatrick. Jockeys Keith Donoghue, Jodan Gainford and Darragh O’Keefe are all in action today and all three have enjoyed numerous wins at Downpatrick over the last five seasons.
  • The circuit at Windsor runs around a figure-of-eight shape and though it is largely flat, the turns can pose a challenge. The Gosdens, William Haggas, Ralph Beckett, Andrew Balding and Richard Hannon are the trainers to look out for on race day at Windsor.
  • The triangular-shaped track at Killarney tends to suit the nippier, more agile types due to the sharpness of the bends. Jockeys Shane Foley, Colin Keane, WJ Lee and Declan McDonogh know what it takes to win at Killarney and all four will be riding in today’s meeting.
