Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 15/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Wednesday’s race card menu features tasty-looking events at Bath, Ffos Las, Perth, York, Sligo and Tipperary across the UK and Ireland, and we’re aiming to gobble up some more profit to get us through the middle of the week. Yesterday, we landed two more winners from three tips thanks to Kelpie Grey’s triumph at Ayr and the success of Jessie Lightfoot, who delivered from a huge price of 8/1. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Voodoo Ray – Bath, 17:00

Voodoo Ray has looked the part since returning to action last month and impressive back-to-back wins at Brighton could set him up for more success at Bath.

The shorter trip shouldn’t unsettle him much today and neither should the 5lb increase he’s being forced to bear. The 5-year-old is on the up and he is taken to deliver for his connections here.

Midnight Flame is another option to consider on betting sites for horse racing. She moves out of her comfort zone today by switching from AW and moving down in distance, however, she was beaten by a nose at Wolverhampton last time out and could improve on that showing.

Sisters In The Sky, who finished 3rd at Bath on May 6th, is also a notable entry and could be thereabouts.

Best Tip #2: Avada Kedavra – Ffos Las, 16:00

Avada Kedavra failed to live up to his billing when he finished 5th as favourite on his handicap debut at Stratford in April, however, he could be a different beast when moving up in trip today.

His mark of 100 looks workable and Nicky Henderson’s charge is just about preferred to his competitors in the fourth race of the day at Ffos Las.

Elsewhere, Batallion is shaping up like another possible challenger. The 6-year-old, who was runner twice in France, returned to the track on March 5th with a respectable second-place finish at Lingfield in a Class 4 Hurdle Handicap.

Still less exposed than most other horses in today’s race, a repeat showing at Ffos Las could put him in the mix.

Best Roughie: Lucy Wang – Tipperary, 18:00

Lucy Wang found the going a little too tough in a Listed event at Punchestown earlier this month, however, she pushed to second spot from a starting price of 150/1 at Leopardstown just after Christmas and if that form can be recaptured, she could move into the frame at Tipperary. Things will have to go her way here, however, there is definite potential to untap.

Gavin Cromwell’s Pampar Lady has been turning the most heads on betting apps in the ante-post shuffle, meanwhile. She has placed in three of her five starts over hurdles and narrowly lost out at Tramore when last seen on April 21st.

Lady Rose Hackett represents Henry De Bromhead and could shape up as another possible contender having been lightly raced.

Stats and Insights

  • There are sharp bends to tackle around the left-handed oval at Tipperary, while a draw bias exists over 5-furlong races and it’s better to be drawn high in those events. The new season has just kicked into gear at Tipperary, though jockey Darragh O’Keefe already has two wins from four rides there.
  • The circuit at Bath can suit the galloping types, especially when you factor in the uphill finish and the fair setting preceding it. Trainer Michael Appleby has three wins from five races at Bath this season, while jockey Richard Kingscote has won 50% of his six races there so far.
  • Ffos Las is another track for the gallopers and with two gentle bends and long straights to power down, horses can really build a head of steam. Over the last five seasons at Ffos Las, jockey David Probert has enjoyed 21 wins in flat races, while Sean Bowen has won 35 different jump events.
