Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 14/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Wednesday’s race card menu serves up meetings at Beverley, Ffos Las, Kempton, Salisbury and Gowran Park in England, Ireland and Wales today. The potential to land some profit is there again, so let’s get cracking with our latest horse racing betting tips below, which include a 14/1 outsider prick from Gowran Park.

Best Tip #1:  Zambezi Magic – Ffos Las, 19:40

Zambezi Magic has an admirable racing record in Wales and while he has lodged only four career wins from 40 attempts, three of those victories were earned at Ffos Las, with the most recent of those delivered on July 17th.

The 7-year-old cuts back in distance in today’s race from 1m 4f to 1m, however, jockey Aidan Keely – who got the best out of him last time – is retained and Zambezi Magic is the one to back, despite a 4lb rise.

Fact Or Fable meanwhile, is another horse with a good track record at Ffos Las. The consistent sort has been in the frame in four of his last five outings (2-2-4-1-2), and his standout run to first spot at Chepstow last month was achieved over 1m.

Daany, who pipped Fact Or Fable to the post at Ffos Las on July 30th, is another to clock on the best betting sites for horse racing.

Best Tip #2: Phoenix Passion – Kempton, 19:30

Phoenix Passion has been hard to match so far this year and the rapidly-improving 3-year-old enjoyed a fourth win on the spin when last seen at Kempton in late June, following similar success at Nottingham, Goodwood and Windsor.

All four of those wins were banked over 1m and Saffie Osborne had the reins each time. Osborne is back today and a 3lb rise might not be enough to end her streak.

Roger Varian’s Gracious Leaders could have what it takes to provide some opposition. He was gelded before his last race, though the alterations seemed to do the trick and he won well at Lingfield.

He moves up a couple of grades today, while an 8lb rise is also noteworthy, though he should be a threat if he can put it all together. Valkyrian, who was 2-1-1-2 in her last four races, completes the trio of likely candidates.

Best Roughie: Thalara – Gowran Park, 18:50

Thalara hasn’t done much racing, though she stepped forward from a long 21-month absence in June when she roared to victory ahead of 15 competitors at Gowran Park over a distance of 1m 1f.

The unexposed filly faces a tougher task in today’s race at the same venue, though Henry De Bromhead has the reliable Rachael Blackmore in the saddle and that could be significant.

Elsewhere, Sakti is another name with credentials and could be worth a market check on betting apps in the UK.

A triumph in a maiden at Dundalk in March was followed up by a solid run to second spot in Killarney in mid-July and the 3-year-old should be thereabouts again today if she can stay on over the extended trip.

Stats and Insights

  • Galloping types are usually the ones to pin your hopes to at Ffos Las due to the fair nature of the setting in Wales. Jockeys David Probert, Rossa Ryan, Oisin Murphy, Lewis Edmunds and Rob Hornby have all won numerous races at Ffos Las over the last five flat seasons.
  • We like our selections to be drawn low over shorter, sprinting trips at Kempton due to the tightness of the circuit there. Trainers Andrew Balding, Charlie Appleby, Roger Varian, Richard Hannon and John & Thady Gosden are the names to watch out for at Kempton.
  • With gentle turns and undulations to coast over, gallopers can excel at Gowran Park, while stamina is also a handy attribute to possess there. Trainers JP Murtagh and JP O’Brien have both won 30 or more races at Gowran Park over the past five campaigns.
