Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 14/06

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card line up is another bumper edition with meetings across the UK and Ireland at Chester, Goodwood, Market Rasen, Newton Abbot, Sandown, York, Cork and Fairyhouse to dissect. Yesterday, we landed two more winners thanks to Mutasarref’s success at Leopardstown and Sixties Chic’s triumph at Newby, while our long shot pick, Enderman, placed at a meaty price. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Eruption – Fairyhouse, 18:15

Eruption has been making solid strides since returning to action last month and the 5-year-old showed promise to finish second in a handicap race at Navan over 5f last week.

Eruption delivered a win for Matthew Smith a Sligo claimer just before that, so the consistency is there and the return to a 6f trip today could make the difference.

In what promises to be an open race in the Fairyhouse Handicap, Shoebox King could be another runner with decent credentials. He competes off a competitive mark today, though some rain would help to make the surface more palatable.

Aurora Nova could be worth a market check on betting sites for horse racing after finishing second at Fairyhouse on her last outing on May 30th.

Best Tip #2: Royal Officer – Sandown, 14:40

Big things are expected from Royal Officer, who was the most expensive sale as a one million guineas purchase at the Craven Breeze-up sales for Charlie Appleby.

The son of Galileo is also closely related to winning horses like Hidden Dimples and Mrs Frankel, and with pedigree to burn, this newcomer could start with a bang at Sandown.

The Gosden’s Attack could be a menacing alternative and probable challenger to Royal Officer in the day’s third race at Sandown. He cost a wedge (€460k) as a yearling and showcased plenty of promise on his debut at Yarmouth last month (2nd).

On that kind of form and with more experience than most of the other runners today, he’s got to be in with a shout.

Best Roughie: Charles St – Market Rasen, 17:15

Charles St has been an inconsistent sort since the winter, though he shaped up surprisingly well to finish second over 3m 2f at Hereford when last seen on May 24th and if that effort can provide a platform, he could ruffle some feathers at Marken Rasen.

The 5-year-old won at this circuit over a similar trip in November last year and deserves a place on shortlists here.

Finn Lough, who is listed as the favourite on sports betting apps, could be the one to beat. Back in the handicapping sphere, he looks ready to kick on following a strong showing at Stratford (2nd) last month, though he has a bit to prove moving up in grade. There is also a 4lb increase to consider, which is another slight concern.

McGowan’s Pass, who won at Uttoxeter last time, is another eye-catcher.

Stats and Insights

  • The square-shaped track at Fairyhouse is generally a fair setting overall and though the finish is on a slight incline, it isn’t overly testing. Trainers JP O’Brien and Ger Lyons have posted double-figure wins at Fairyhouse over the last five years.
  • The layout at Sandown tends to favour the galloping types and the four-furlong uphill finish can often suit the stronger stayers. Jockeys William Buick, Oisin Murphy and Tom Marquand are always worth looking out for at Sandown and all three are in action today.
  • More agile horses routinely have a better time of it at Market Rasen due to the sharp turns at either end of the track. Trainers Olly Murphy (41 wins), Dan Skelton (30 wins) and Fergal O’Brien (29) have enjoyed plenty of success at Market Rasen since 2019.
