Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 14/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Sunday’s race card line-up features a trio of meetings across the UK and Ireland at Hereford, Plumpton and Down Royal. Yesterday, we capped our festival tips by picking out the Grand National winner thanks to I Am Maximus’s stunning win in the showpiece race at a price of 7/1. We continue our hunt for winners today and below you can check out our latest horse racing betting tips.

Best Tip #1: Fiston De Becon – Hereford, 13:47

Fiston De Becon dropped back in trip to win over 2m at Southwell last month and that victory was scored with relative comfort.

The 9-year-old has been pushed up by 4lb today, though that doesn’t feel overly taxing and Olly Murphy’s charge could get to the post first again in the first race of the day at Hereford.

Competition could come in the form of Toothless, however. He came close on each of his last two efforts over bigger fences, however, Harry Cobden is in the saddle here and that could make a difference.

With El Muchacho a non-runner, Chanceux is the only other option available on other betting sites for horse racing, though others are preferred.

Best Tip #2: Crazierthandaisy – Plumpton, 17:00

Nicky Henderson’s Crazierthandaisy turned heads on her debut at Huntington despite falling short and open to plenty of progression, she is easily the pick of the last race at Plumpton.

She had strong market support last time out but failed to deliver, however, things could be different this time around and the 5-year-old should make good on a short price over 2m 1f.

Hello Cello meanwhile, is an interesting debutant and another possible contender. The 3-year-old was a €52,000 pickup for Harry Fry and has useful family pedigree.

Markets have been moving in her favour and she runs from a stable with a good record in his bracket. Fergal O’Brien’s Jakana could also be in the mix if improvement is found.

Best Roughie: Tangental – Down Royal, 16:50

Tangental is the value option on betting apps for the penultimate race at Down Royal. The 8-year-old shaped up well over a longer trip at Navan before dropping back to fourth, however, the shortened distance today could make the difference and he runs off a decent mark to boot.

A former dual hurdles winner, today will be only his third start in a chase, and he could kick on from here.

He Fitz In runs in opposition off a tighter price after his recent win at Limerick. He is reunited with winning jockey Danny Mullins today and should be thereabouts once more.

Gordon Elliott’s Womalko meanwhile, is the market leader in the ante-post action, though he has it all to prove after a lengthy spell away from action and might be best avoided.

Stats and Insights

  • Hereford finishes with a snappy downhill surge, so our tips will need to be involved from the front as the post approaches. Jockey James Brown has a 30%-win rate at Hereford this season, while trainer Alan King has won with 25% of his entries at the circuit this term.
  • Plumpton favours the speedier and more agile types due to the swift runaround, sharp turns and tricky fences at the course. Look out for jockey Freddie Gordon at Plumpton. He has an impressive 39% strike rate there this season. Trainer Chris Gordon meanwhile, has posted 15 wins at Plumpton so far.
  • Down Royal is a square-shaped, stiff course with undulations and our tips will need to show staying power to be in contention for the galloping finish. Jockey Jack Kennedy has 15 wins at Down Royal this season which is considerably more than anymore else. Trainer Gordon Elliott has won 20 times at the track this term.
