Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 13/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are three meetings to look forward to in the UK at Hamilton, Lingfield and Nottingham on Tuesday’s race card, giving us plenty of scope to line up some more profit. Yesterday, all three of our selections placed in second position, so let’s hope for a little more fortune today. View our latest free horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Good Morning Alex – Hamilton, 19:00

There has been no stopping Good Morning Alex this year and the red-hot 3-year-old looks like the one to back on familiar territory at Hamilton again today.

TD Barron’s charge won over 1m 1f at that track on his last outing in June with room to spare and that was his second win on the spin at that venue and his third triumph in as many races overall.

Available to take at a keen price on horse racing betting sites, Good Morning Alex has excellent credentials again here, despite his rise up the weights.

Elsewhere, Arctic Mountain could offer an alternative. He placed on his first five starts and won at Linfield on his penultimate effort and still largely unexposed, he could have a say today.

Best Tip #2: Miss Dubai – Lingfield, 16:15

Dennis Coakley’s Miss Dubai scored for the first time on the AW surface at Lingfield eight days ago and though the filly wasn’t overly tested on that occasion, she has a real chance of lining up a second victory on the spin at the track today.

Dropping into classified company should suit, while the 1m 3f trip looks ideal for the progressive sort. Back Miss Dubai to deliver again.

Foinix finished 5th and 4th respectively in two races at Lingfield in July, however, he raised his levels considerably to smash the field at Brighton five days ago and if that kind of display can be replicated, he could well be in the frame for more glory today.

Fullforward is another name with plenty of course experience that should be in the mix for an each-way finish.

Best Roughie: Sun Festival – Nottingham, 14:30

Sun Festival hasn’t been in action since December last year, however, his form across the autumn and winter in 2023 was strong and he finished the previous campaign with three wins.

A 250-day break between races is lofty enough to cast doubts over his prospects today, however, trainer Joseph Parr should have his 6-year-old in good shape for his return and Sun Festival is available at a generous price on betting apps to launch a bold bid.

Star Of St James meanwhile, has been performing handily since April and his record of 7-2-2-2-1 from his last five races piques our interest.

He seized on his chance to win off a lighter mark at Redcar a little under two weeks ago and jockey Miss Stephanie Dorey is retained for today’s event. The 7-year-old is under consideration here.

Stats and Insights

  • Stamina is a very useful attribute to bring to Hamilton due to the late two-furlong climb towards the end of the track. Jockeys Paul Mulrennan, Andrew Mullen, Callum Rodriguez and Daniel Tudhope have all enjoyed success at Hamilton in recent seasons and all five are in action there today.
  • Lingfield is laid out over a left-handed, triangular course and the surface there can be quicker near the far rail. Trainers William Haggas (38%) and Rae Guest (30%) both had impressive win rates at Lingfield over the last five flat campaigns at the track.
  • Front-running types tend to enjoy the layout of the course at Nottingham due to the nature of the setting. Trainer Michael Appleby has won an unmatched 30 races at Nottingham over the last five seasons though William Haggas has a slightly better strike rate (21%) over the same period.
