Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 13/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Monday’s race card line up features meetings at Catterick, Hereford, Windsor, Wolverhampton, Killarney and Roscommon across the UK and Ireland, giving punters ample opportunities to seek out some profit to start the new week. To that end, we’ve compiled a selection of top horse racing betting tips for the day’s action. Check them out below.

Best Tip #1:  Gentleman De Mee – Killarney, 18:40

Willie Mullins’s Gentleman De Mee should have the right credentials to score at Killarney today, especially if he can find his reliable jumping form.

He unseated his rider at Punchestown when last seen, however, a solid showing at Cheltenham (2nd) preceded that effort and the Class 1 race regular could be hard to stop when dropping down a couple of grades today.

Competition is expected to arrive in the form of Ash Three Meadow, who will represent Gordon Elliott’s top-tier stable.

Last year’s Galway Plate winner didn’t shine at Punchestown last time out (7th), however, he did win over 2m 4f at Navan before that and should be suited to today’s distance at Killarney.

Best Tip #2: Sherdil – Catterick, 15:47

Sherdil is chasing a hattrick today having posted successive wins on AW at Newcastle (Feb & Mar), and the in-form 5-year-old could be the one to back on the best betting sites for horse racing.

Sherdil will have to prove he can handle the mark that held him back at Wolves in December, however, he looks like a different prospect this time around and should be a leading contender.

Paul Midley’s Birkenhead could pose a threat from the rest of the field. The 7-year-old was a C&D winner at Catterick two years ago and returns to turf racing on a career-low mark today.

Birkenhead was 4lb higher when he won at Catterick last year, and he could take advantage of the handicapper’s kinder rating to make another impact on his return here.

Best Roughie: Lawn Ranger – Windsor, 19:05

Lawn Ranger returned to the scene on the first of this month after an eight-month absence and blew off some cobwebs to finish 5th at Kempton. Michael Attwater’s 9-year-old should be loosened up after that effort and could pose a challenge from a big price at Windsor.

Five of Lawn Ranger’s eight career wins have come over C&D and another two of those wins came with today’s jockey Robert Havlin.

Desfondado has been an early favourite on sports betting apps, meanwhile. The 4-year-old’s form has been up and down, though he did score at Linfield when last seen and today’s trip is only slightly longer.

Loughville, who delivered the goods at Bath on April 7th, could be another participant open to progression and is an alternative for shortlists.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Killarney is a left-handed run of nine furlongs around an oval shape with tight bends. The new season has only just got going in Killarney, however, jockey Phillip Enright has already claimed two wins from four races there.
  • The sharp turns at Catterick can favour more agile types and it’s important for our tips to be involved at the front throughout to be in with a chance. Trainer Danny Brooke has only been involved in two races at Catterick this season, though he claimed the spoils in two of those efforts.
  • Windsor is laid out in an unorthodox figure-of-eight shape, and while the ground itself is flat and fair, there are tricky bends to navigate. The Gosdens, John and Thady, tasted victory in three of their four races at Windsor so far this season, while jockey Clifford Lee is unbeaten after two outings there this term.
