Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 12/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card line up is another bumper edition with meetings scheduled to take place across the UK and Ireland at Ascot, Chepstow, Chester, Newmarket, York, Dundalk and Kilbeggan.

Yesterday, we landed two more winners thanks to Fahrenheit Seven’s triumph at Epsom Downs and Sergeant Wilko’s win at Newmarket, while our third and final tip (Global Energy) was a non-runner at Leopardstown. We’re determined to maintain our winning momentum ahead of the weekend and you can find our latest horse racing betting tips for Friday’s racing below.

Best Tip #1:  Porta Fortuna – Newmarket, 15:35

A double Group 1 winner and daughter of the prolific Carvaggio, Porta Fortuna is expected to set the standard in the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket today.

The talented 3-year-old started the new season with a promising run to a close second at Newmarket in May in the 1,000 Guineas, and then followed that up with a victory at Royal Ascot in June. He should have leading claims for Donnacha O’Brien again today if that sort of form can be recaptured.

Running Lion is another worthy name for shortlists and is easily worth a market check on the best betting sites for horse racing. The Gosden’s charge won at Ascot when last seen in June over a similar trip and with an overall record of 4-4 over 1m, the 4-year-old warrants plenty of respect.

Paddy Twomey’s A Lilic Rolla, has only been beaten once and is progressive enough to make a real impact here.

Best Tip #2: Mousey Brown – Kilbeggan, 19:55

Still largely unexposed over staying distances, red-hot Mousey Brown takes top form into today’s penultimate race at Kilbeggan.

The 7-year-old moves up in weight and up in distance in today’s race, but she has been shaping up brilliantly since spring, winning on four of her last five outings, including a Chase Handicap over 2m 4f at Kilbeggan.

Some thought should also be given to Salvador Ziggy, who represents George Elliott at a slightly bigger price. One of five entrants from Elliott’s roster, Salvador Ziggy finished second to powerful stablemate Duffle Coat in the Mayo National at Ballinrobe in May and at 10lb lighter today, another strong push is anticipated.

Best Roughie: Specialisation – Ascot, 16:35

Specialisation is the less-fancied of two runners from Richard Hannon in the Signature Captial Handicap on betting apps, however, the 3-year-old has shown plenty of promise across three qualification outings to suggest he can have a part to play.

His win at Wolverhampton in April over 1m was particularly eye-catching and if he can produce a similar effort here, he could make a mockery of his big starting price.

Condor Pasa is the early favourite, meanwhile. He was an easy winner at Carlisle in June when last seen and posted finishes of 2-3-3 in three races before that. Moving into the handicapping sphere, Condor Pasa looks primed to do some more damage.

Hattrick-chasing Miller Spirit is another combatant with credentials. He had to work hard to win twice in a row at Goodwood last month and he is reliable over this kind of trip.

Stats and Insights

  • The Rowley Mile at Newmarket is a famously wide track with an equally infamous dip a few furlongs from the finish. Charlie Appleby has been the top trainer by a considerable wedge at Newmarket over the past five seasons, posting 97 wins from 323 races there over that period.
  • The track at Kilbeggan is a little over a mile in length and being compact in nature, it has tight bends and challenging jumps to conquer. Big-hitting trainers Willie Mullins, Henry De Bromhead, Gordon Elliott, Gavin Cromwell and John Patrick Ryan have held plenty of sway at Kilbeggan in recent seasons.
  • Horses with previous experience and form at Ascot can often be worth sticking with. Trainers William Haggas, John & Thady Gosden, Andrew Balding, Roger Varian and Charlie Appleby have been the dominant performers in flat races at Ascot over the last five years.
