There is another action-packed race card line-up to enjoy on Thursday and with meetings at Carlisle, Doncaster, Epsom Downs, Newbury, Newmarket and Leopardstown across the UK and Ireland, the potential for profit is there again. Yesterday, one of our three picks placed while another (Atlantic Gamble, Kempton) landed a win. Let’s hope for more of the same in our latest horse racing betting tips below.
Best Tip #1: Fahrenheit Seven – Epsom Downs 19:15
This Class 4 Handicap Flat contest at Epsom Downs seems to centre around the in-form Fahrenheit Seven, who has been a very competitive sort since making his debut in April.
He got off the mark with impressive ease at Haydock just last week and running off a 1lb lower mark today, the slight step up in trip shouldn’t pose too taxing a test. Definitely the one to watch.
Northcliff is next in line on horse racing betting sites and the 4-year-old, who is hunting down a fourth win this year, has the potential to ask some questions of Fahrenheit Seven.
He has generally shown a better side on faster ground however, so the soft conditions today could have an impact.

Best Tip #2: Sergeant Wilko – Newmarket, 15:00
Woodhay Wonder is something of a course specialist at Newmarket and the only defeat she’s suffered at that track came when she finished third in the Duchess of Cambridge meeting last year.
The progressive 3-year-old has already won twice at Newmarket since April and would have been the perfect choice today had she not been declared a non-runner already.
However, Sergeant Wilko could be a bigger-price alternative with credentials instead.
He has returned to action with renewed vigour this year and wins at Newcastle and Leicester over 6f in March and May respectively, were achieved in good style. The 3lb rise today doesn’t feel significant and conditions should also suit.

Best Roughie: Global Energy – Leopardstown, 19:25
Global Energy has been in flying form since his return to action in the spring and though he has a career-high mark to beat today, he remains a very attractive price to beat all in this 1m 1f Handicap Flat Race.
The 5-year-old won at The Curragh in March and May and posted second and third-placed finishes at Leopardstown in between. That kind of form should put him right in the mix again here.
Livio Milo meanwhile, has been attracting attention on the best betting apps in the ant-post shuffle. The 4-year-old was a Galway maiden winner last year and he has also looked the part in 2024, racing well twice at Leopardstown to land third and second-placed finishes on his last couple of outings.
He tries blinkers on his return to that venue today and could offer a threat on revised terms.

Stats and Insights
- With sharp left and right hand turns to conquer, the track at Epsom is a unique setting and well-balanced horses can often excel there. Trainers Andrew Balding and Jim Boyle have both enjoyed double-figure wins at Epsom Downs over the last five seasons.
- The Rowley Mile at Newmarket is a wide track with an infamous dip a few furlongs from the finishing post. Charlie Appleby has been the most dominant trainer by a distance at Newmarket over the last five seasons, posting 97 wins from 323 races there over that period.
- There are few challenging bends or undulations to tackle at Leopardstown, so it’s usually best to focus on the strong gallopers during meetings there. Jockeys Colin Keane, Seamie Heffernan and WJ Lee have all enjoyed plenty of success at Leopardstown over the last five seasons and all three riders are in action today.
