Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 10/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card line-up is packed to bursting with exciting events across the UK and Ireland at Ascot, Chester, Market Rasen, Nottingham, Ripon, Sedgefield, Cork and Downpatrick, which should open up plenty of potentially profitable avenues to explore. Yesterday, two of our three selections landed winners (Easy Fella, Flawless) with our longer 7/1 shot (Chantilly Rose) hitting the post and finishing just outside the each-way reckoning. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Cherry Blossom – Cork, 16:40

AP O’Brien has shunted Cherry Blossom back to sprinting at Cork today after a less than inspiring jump to 7th at Leopardstown last month and the 3-year-old is taken to excel in a more suitable race.

The No Nay Never filly was a very promising performer in Juvenile outings and if that form is recaptured over 5f 110y today, she should able to set the standard in the day’s second race.

Elsewhere, Navassa Island has enjoyed some backing on other betting sites for horse racing. A win over a slightly longer trip at The Curragh last August was notable and she also shaped up decently when seen for the first time this year at Navan (5th) last month.

Gavin Cromwell’s recent purchase Gunzburg could be another to track on her debut for a new yard.

Best Tip #2: Big Stage – Downpatrick, 17:05

Big Stage is one of several Gordon Elliott-trained favourites running at Downpatrick today and the 6-year-old looks primed to deliver in the Road Stud Installations Maiden Hurdle opener.

His form has been solid this year and runs to third, second and second again at Punchestown, Cork and Naas since February is a good platform to build on. Today’s competition isn’t quite as stiff, so back him to score.

Henry De Bromhead’s Nouvotic could have the mettle to pose a challenge. He showed flashes of potential in bumpers and maiden hurdles last year before returning to action on New Year’s Day with a runner up performance at Tramore.

Nouvotic has decent credentials here in what looks like a substandard field elsewhere.

Best Roughie: Prefer The Sister – Nottingham, 17:59

Prefer The Sister is a lightly-raced entry lurking with real menace in the day’s second race at Nottingham. The filly has made the frame for an each-way finish in all three of her outings and caught the eye to finish third at Bath over 1m last time out.

There is a good mark to work with here and her handicap debut could be one to remember if things go her way.

Alice Haynes’s Lunario has been backed into a 10/3 favourite on the best betting apps, meanwhile. The 4-year-old showed steel to score at Yarmouth over a slightly shorter distance on April 23rd and though there is a 4lb rise to consider today, he should be thereabouts.

In contrast, The Spotlight Kid is 1lb better off and that could push the 5-year-old into contention.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Cork is nicely flat and offers a fair setting, so most horses have a chance at glory there. The new season at Cork is only getting going, though father and son combo Andrew Slattery junior and senior have enjoyed two wins at the track so far this term.
  • Downpatrick in County Down offers a tight challenge and the sharpness of the turns there usually favours more nimble types over horses with long strides. Gordon Elliott is the standout dominant force at Downpatrick and the prolific trainer has already posted 18 victories at the track this season.
  • Horses drawn higher in shorter races at Nottingham can enjoy an advantage. Usually, our tips for Nottingham look for pacey runners who enjoy action near the front. While the new season has just started at Nottingham, trainer Michael Appleby has already put an early marker down with two wins from four races there.
